mackian, advice on the Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone just joined this site its really interesting, im after some advice on my new Fabia VRS, ive noticed the gearstick tends to vibrate occasionally in neutral, if i put it into first or move it slightly it stops then returns intermittently, dealer has told me the gear linkages under the gearstick are by cable and they may need addjusting, replacing? theres no prob with gear selection, any one else had this prob on theres?

aalso under the bonnet what are the two rubber pipes at the front of the engine above the radiator, they both have small black dust cap type screw on covers noticed one was loose while cleaning the car, unssssscrewed it to look underneath but theres a ball bearing type vaalve underneath, am i correct in guessing there something to do with the air con?

any advice appreciated

my gearleaver does this, I wouldn't worry about it unless it REALLY bugs you ;) dunno about the other stuff, do know if you do the PD 160 (seat) intake mod, two of the pipes rub against the intake and will wear, I've used a plastic tie to keep em clear :)

oh, and welcome

Hi Sharkrider thanks for the info, havent done the intake mod,is it worth doing? maybe some point later

only done 4000 miles in the car, bought it this April, really love it, never realised a car could be so much fun

think those pipes i mentioned are something to do with the aircon, felt them today after a run and one was hot the other cold there like a thick rubber then go into thinner metal pipes, reckon those screw on caps are for doing somekind of maintenence for the aircon, they seem to work loose after a run maybe vibration, look just the same as large dustcaps from the tyres. underneath its just like a ball bearing grease gun type point, guess someone on hear will know what they are?

does your car burn any oil? mines used around three quartes of a litre, in 3500 miles according to the manual thats normal? has seemed to use a little less lately seemed to burn more if i give it some stick.

Welcome, although I cant help with your query.

Mackian, mine does the same thing, I tend to just give it a tap to the left or right and it disappears. It would only bother me if it did it in gear, I can't remember if someone else on here said it disappears over time, I've covered 1600miles so far and it seems slightly better, but then I might just be getting use to it. As for oil mines used a touch, but I think all the PD engines do, regardless of the mileage on it, I'll continue to check mine for as long as I have it.
