Suzuki Swift Gearbox Failed

Featured Replies

Hello all

Just wondered if anyone could advise...

A guy I know has a 2012 Swift which has just suffered gearbox failure at 30k miles.

The problem is he has no service history for the car which is not good! - but means the dealer are obviously being very difficult with this.

I've read this is quite a common fault with the Swift. I've advised emailing the MD of Suzuki UK.

Any further helpful advice?

Just goes to show its worth getting a car serviced at dealer in the first 3 years when it's covered by warranty.

No service history at all, or just no main dealer (Suzuki) service history?

Ask them what service the gearbox needs between new and 30k. If the answer is none, then the lack of 'no service required' can't be an issue.

Any further helpful advice?

Advice for a Suzuki owner on a Skoda forum, of course, we'll be as helpful as possible. Maybe make sure if he buys a VRS it isn't an oil burner and the service light reset method is available in the link in my signature.

Not one bit of history and I don't think it's ever had one apart from maybe a DIY oil change ... Not good at all.

I now understand that any / most manufacturers will simply say that all warranty is void if the car has not been maintained as specified. I think on the Swifts the gearbox oil is scheduled for replacement at around 30k miles but not certain of this.
