Its badged 118i, yet its a 3 cylinder 1.5lt with 140bhp & 220Nm??…..& basic for the 118i "M sport" is £27,275..manual...£28,625 DSG...

 

MK8 Golf R-line 1.5lt TSI 150PS 250nm £27,140 manual...….

 

VW have pushed their prices up....so that makes the "M sport" BMW look like a steal...if you want badges...

That's all it boils down to with allot of people...not me though....I buy things based on function, will it do what I what, do I really need it, value for money, etc etc....

 

"willy waving" ain't on the cards with me.....& I usually spot badged up "wannabe's"...tell tale is small brakes..

 

But hey it takes all sorts & some people can't afford insurance on a big engine, but want a sporty looking car...but £27k plus is getting steep...you can pick some decent barely used cars for that...

There are a couple of guys that have taken their LCi M3s to rolling roads and got huge power figures. Their rolling roads they used were considered by the cognoscenti to be decent and reliable in their measurement, but one of the cars was producing around 570bhp! Quite a lift over the newly quoted 'improved' outputs. The earlier version of the G80 also generally produced a decent chunk more power than quoted, too. The LCi should be some weapon.

 

My G80 was definitely the best car I have ever owned, but best isn't the same as 'most enjoyable', of course.
