real mpg

Featured Replies

Fabia vrs pd130, ive not done a brim to brim yet but have heard the trip computer is way out??

I have been driving carefully and the trip computer only reads 46, thats mainly motorway/constant moving on 30 roads, no stop and start.

What can i realistically expect driving reasonable but giving it full throttle once or twice during a 10 mile journey?

What do you all get (unmapped) brim to brim?

Can't sap unmapped. But 80% my driving is rural roads I get 410+ a tank and mines mapped to 180

What mpg is that? Do you use the power much

Mines mapped and I generally get 470ish by the time the light comes on. That's a brimmed tank WITHOUT the venting mod.

Works out around 52mpg average. That's 80% motorway cruising at 70-75 and short 6mile round trip journeys to work.

Mine gets thrashed daily

This is just my opinion, so please correct me if I am wrong:

Trip computer is showing the average mpg for the last 2h of driving, this means if you are driving about 10-15minutes, it does the maths (rule of three) and it's showing a lower mpg (cold engine, cold start, higher fuel consumption etc).

When driving on short distances it's normal to have a lower mpg on the lcd, this is the reason why I am always doing the maths for the last 500-1000miles and I'm getting very close to the ø reading.

I will have to do a brim to brim, the fuel needle appears to go down quite fast considering

I have a PD100 instead of a PD130, but my understanding the MPG figures are fairly similar anyway.

My route to work is 12/13 miles. This is a mix of stop start traffic, and then 30/40/50 roads throughout the rest of it. I can achieve high 50s MPG wise, but most journeys normally are around 53/54mpg.

A lot depends on your driving, whether you use Air Con and many other factors. I've normally found a normal route for me has better MPG simply because I can think ahead easier. I know where each bend is, where is most likely for other traffic to appear from and is it even worth going a little faster if I know there are traffic lights soon.

My MPG from Fuelly (Calculated from filling the tank all the way, and placing the miles in) is always a 1/2 MPG different from the trip computer.

To get the most accurate reading calculate it manually or through Fuelly.

My dash computer claims my stock VRS does 43 to 55mpg depending on how hard I drive it.

50mph I usually get around 50-60mpg

70mph crusing down the motorway it will easily hit 50-52mpg.

90mph (on autobahn / private road... of course) it will do around 46mpg

town work, stuck in traffic and blipping it around country roads 42mpg and slightly below.

Tank is usually 380 - 440 miles depending on the above.

Brimful to brimful checked several times, but usually works out 45mpg/ 10miles per litre.

Long motorways drives pushes mpg a-bit but I seldom keep to 70MPH speed-limit..

So would you say the trip computer is quite accurate?

As long as your car is stock, I would say it was pretty accurate. +/- 0.5 MPG.

+1 mine is pretty much the same. They can be very economical when driven sensibly but a heavy right foot and/or short journeys will see the MPG suffer.

I'd say that's more or less the same as I get in my PD100 (remapped).

60mpg is what u'd see if u were doing any long 50mph specs speed limit zones..

43mpg is more or less what you get if u are doing 90mph

MPG gets better once the car's done maybe 10-15miles.

Short trips are often nearer 30-40mpg

My PD100 does the same 70 mile commute and that's all it is used for. When I first bought it at 80k the trip computer was 2-5mpg out brim to brim using hand calculation or fuelly. After 30k on it now doing the same route the trip computer was consistently within 0.5mpg of the hand calculation so I stopped bothering to measure it. Now on 45k and haven't worked it out in a while, but the trip still says believable figures. I can only assume the ECU learnt.

I average 61mpg per tank now. (Ignore my sig, it's way out of date). It is driven at the speed limit (3 miles town, 10 miles 50, 22 miles 70) and occasionally (rarely) thrashed.

On my MPI, my computer was reading 48mpg, calculated it to be closer to 35mpg. Pretty poor.

My car's Trip mpg figures are way out, eg an indicated 60 mpg equates to a real world 45ish mpg. The mpg recorded over 62496 miles is as in my signature.

My calculated brim to brim is 51mpg.

My computer reads 61mpg.

Right well i think my fabia is drinking fuel, the needle literally moves when you put your foot down, and when i drive carefully im only getting an indicated 45mpg, the needle moves quite a bit on a 20 mile journey.

Any suggestions as to why its using a lot?

What engine does it have? I can see the needle moving sometimes if I'm really hammering it. Usually if it's a lot of stopping/starting on fast A-roads.

No!  just a pointless gimmick..LOL

Its a pd130, it says like 150 miles left i do 10 miles and it drops 15-20 miles

Weird, those engines are meant to be pretty efficient... Even with a fairly heavy foot.

Thats about the same as my trip computer, also an 07 plate vRS, (BLT engine code). When I had an 05 plate vRS (ASZ engine code) the trip figures were very accurate.

My07 blt is only displaying 48 and thats me driving very carefully so god knows how far off the real figure is :/
