Auto Express had a write up last week on the Audi A6 they are running , due a service so they took it to France ( Dunkirk ) and saved over

I can imagine it being more worthwhile for Audi as their service rates are quite high, whilst Skoda have a reputation for being relatively OK value.

I can see the attraction of combining a service with a nice trip to France, but it could also be a bit of a palaver if anything complex needs doing unless your French is ace (and mine isn't).

How much did the service cost in France? I can't see it being cheaper if you factor in the time taken and cost of crossing, unless they can do it significantly cheaper. As said above, would also require you to be recently fluent in French

Got out a back copy of Auto Exp , which had the full breakdown on cost savings , they show the Skoda Octy as 52% saving against Kent dealer and 49% over London dealer on the first service . Seat comes in at 56% Audi at 32% and VW golf at 30% . Now at a 40k service cost these could be interesting savings ,

Why didn't they take it to a UK Skoda dealer?? Loads of the VW / Audi guys around here are doing that and saving a packet...
