New AP coilover suspension issue

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have not been here for a while since I sold my MK1. Last November I bought Octavia VRS Estate 2.0 with DSG gearbox. This year in March I changed the suspension for AP coilovers. Superb driving in my view.

However, there is one thing that kind of worries me and does not want to go away. Car was set up and aligned by Wheels In Motion. Great work. I noticed that when I turn left or right or when drive slowly I can hear 'a noise' from the front suspension as if something is rubbing on something. The car goes well anyway. When I explained this to one of the technicians at Wheels In Motion he also noticed that but said it would settle after a while. I did nearly 2k miles since then and 'the noise'' did not go away.

Did any of you noticed or hear anything like it....

I am not sure what this is and if this is a fault or what?

Would be grateful for comments on that or advice.

How low did you go? Could be tyres rubbing, or maybe a component like drop links are on their way out.

I did not have issue with drop links on the standard shocks and Eibach springs.

How low did I go? Well I asked the guys from Wheels in Montion to be sensible and trust their judgment considering humps etc. Their technician did not suggestion the car seats too low. He drove it and explained as I mentioned that it will settle but so far it did not.

I went to a friend of mine who took the car on the ramp and made movements of the front wheels. He did not notice any rubbing. He sprayed the top of the coilovers with a grease. the sound is still there. I am puzzled.

Did they knock the brake splash guard onto the disc when fitting coilovers?
