Aircon Condensate drain - right place?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've had my first Skoda for just over 3 months - a significant time since the warranty from the independent dealer was.... 3 months!  Its a lovely 4x4 170hp beast (that the wide has named Hetty) on a 10 plate.  I've been making some subtle changes - putting in a Columbus unit, then upgrading the bluetooth module and on Saturday evening I added in the left channel audio wiring.  All with thanks to the posts on here that have helped me every step of the way!

Just as I finished the job I noticed whilst cleaning up that the passenger footwell was a bit damp - bus since we'd been in the car with wet feet I didn't worry too much - plus it was getting dark.  A bit of forum browsing and I was straight out in the morning for a closer look - and it was more than just damp - if I pushed down on the carpet my hand was in a puddle of water!  The driver's side was damp too.... why oh why did I get the sunroof?

To try and keep this short I ripped the passenger foot well apart and traced the water to a blocked a/c condensate drain - and think I fixed it - but was hoping you could help confirm that its now dripping from the right place.  I've circled where it dribbles in the attached - it was expecting it to be straight from the drain pipe - but it seems to come out of a chassis drain hole - is this normal?

Thanks,

John

Have you had the sunroof drain pipes upgraded from exiting from the top of the tailgate to exiting into the top rear wheel arch?

Hi,

I haven't - is it possible to check if is was done by the previous owner - without stripping it down?

Lift up the tailgate, find the rubber "bungs" in the top corners.

Thanks. I have rubber bungs with flaps (car was built Feb 2010). Was this a upgrade a warranty change or a recall?

If it was only done under warranty - can it be done DIY?

My local dealer wanted 75+ vat to diagnose plus around another 300+ vat to fit with the "possibility" of good will from skoda!.

My local VAG specialist did it for me in the end.

I have a "How to" here,If you send me your email address I'll scan it to the computer and email it over to you.

Or are you near Cirencester?
