Electric Door Mirror Option Now Available

Featured Replies

One of two options that I wanted. Good to see progress. Now if only the optional retractable net for the combi could be added in UK so that occasionally I could use the space above the parcel shelf that would be perfect.

Its funny how the specs available in the UK differ from other countries.

I ordered my vRS last year in Switzerland (Collected beginning of April this year) with the Electric Folding, Heated & Auto Dimming mirrors.

It was around 150CHF if I remember correctly & no need to buy the expensive electric seats.

Oh bother. How annoying.

Edit: Yep. If I waited a couple weeks I could have had front sensors, reversing camera and folding mirrors. All things I was really after but weren't available in July.

The car better be good when it turns up, Skoda. As I pretty much hate you now.

Lack of folding mirrors on mine did make me think twice, due to narrow entrance at home. Suppose the only time a model gets all the toys is when a new model is due. Then everyone wants that one instead.

Happy days, that's definitely on the list.

Annoyed.  :envy:

When I was speccing up a car, pretty much one of my main "wants" was folding mirrors (sick of them getting clobbered in car parks).

Who wants to guess that a retrofit is nigh on impossible, they wont release the parts and involves a dealer-fit only at two grand?

It's on the configurator, 175 of our fine English pounds, certainly cheaper than 800 if you include the leccy seat!

I'm betting its more than 175 to buy teh parts and install them into my existing MK3 vRS :(

If it's even possible...

Just tried to get them added to my order but as I'm week 36 it's not possible. So good news and bad news I guess... Means I should get my car by end of Sept but I'll have to fold mirrors myself !

Yep seems as though they are £175 on a car without and £125 on an Elegance with standard non dimming folding mirrors.

Is v good being able to get them as a standalone option....bit tight of Skoda not to make the dimming version standard fit on the Elegance.

Has front assist made a return on the Elegance too?

Awesome news for people who want them without the other bits. Apologies for being wrong about it  :x. now back to the waiting game for my Tsi Estate :|

I have folding mirror on my O3. It comes with the Electric seat. Not able to buy Electric seat without folding mirrors. When I bought the car I was told that memory settings for seat was saved in every key for the car. When my wife opened the car with her key it would set the seat and mirrors after her and same with my key for me. This is not the case anyway. They have moved this option for O3. It is located on O2 and superb.

Anyone find out if it is possible to retrofit this and if it's possible, what's the cost?

Is the cost prohibitive?

You need to change a setting on the MMI first, and it needs doing with both keys. Then it will remember your settings, it isn't on by default fir some reason.

never believe SUK or your dealer, they know nothing about what will happen tomorrow let alone in the next few weeks/months.

Sounds about right.

Most companies treat their customers like Mushrooms & Rhubarb.

Keep them in the dark & must be fed loads of BS.

For some reason my MKIII Octy Elegance arrived with electric folding mirrors with courtesy lights underneath even though I didn't order it (or subsequently pay for it either). Car arrived end of June. I don't know if they are heated or not? Damn useful though!

And I don't have electric seats. Metallic paint and privacy glass were my only extras.

Anyone find out if it is possible to retrofit this and if it's possible, what's the cost?

Anyone? My Australian spec RS is on it's way (on a ship - left Belgium and docked in UK - now on West coast of Africa, one stop in South Africa then first port in Australia is me!)

I was really close in getting puddle and folding mirrors on my order but no luck! Real shame... I've just noticed on NZ spec it comes standard!!!!

I wanted to know how I could get folding mirrors possibly retro fitted? Cabling... Connection?

The Elegance spec has the electric folding mirrors as standard, the RS and SE do not. The elegance would then gain auto dimming mirrors.

Either turn the knob adjuster on the drivers door round to the sign of the mirror with an arrow on and this will fold them in, or lock the car then press and hold the lock button to fold the mirrors in - its surprising what details get missed at handover!!

With reference to the heated mirrors, again on the same switch. Position are as follows:

R - Driver side

. (a dot) - Neutral - nothing will move

L - Passenger side

Pic of mirror with an arrow - this is the folding

Pic of mirror with 'wavey' lines - this is the heating

Turn the knob with the dot on to any of these positions and you will control the above. As a side note, check in your 'Setup on radio to see if mirror adjust is set to both or individual - if set to both whatever you do on the drivers mirror will be done (the opposite?) on the passenger one.

That's brilliant thanks. (I had worked some of it out). The longer I own my Skoda the less impressed I become with my local dealer in Leeds.

The online car configurator still allows you to add this as an option when you have selected an Elegance build.

My car appears to automatically fold the mirrors in every time, which isn't always necessary. Can I adjust this? The long press currently (and I still want this) closes all the windows.

Ooops I think I've confused myself now!  :D

From what I replied firstly, from memory is for the MK2 (?) the MK3 will automatically fold in when locked, again if you go in to the Setup you will be able to disable this and IIRC when locked the mirrors won't fold BUT if you then press and hold they will then fold in - I think

O3'S with folding mirrors fold upon lock only, long button press is a Mk2 thing.

A while ago the controllers for the mirrors got updated (from a certain build week) older models used to unfold upon ignition on, newer vehicles unfold upon unlock.

All you can do is disable the auto fold/unfold upon lock/unlock by disabling the "fold mirrors whilst parked" setting in the infotainment. You'd then have to manually fold/unfold using the mirror switch.
