Lambda sensor replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all

can anyone tell me where the pre cat Lambda sensor is located on the vrs? Pictures if possible, and do I need to buy a special socket to take it out and reinstall it, or is there a cheap way with out buying a special socket

bit of a novice so any help welcome.

Thanks jimmer

no special socket just an ordinary 22mm,and  is easy to spot, just get under the car and you'll see it before the cat.But is tight as hell

I had the same question but on the standard 2.0l AZJ engine.

On a previous engine I had to used a very large adjustable wrench to get the leverage. They do get very tight in the thread.

Is this it on mine just behind the engine??

I found that the adjustable wrench slipped and damaged the surface, had to get the right sized open ended spanner.

I've had one of these lambda sensor tools in my tool box for years and it has been pretty handy as you can normally get quite a good swing on awkward sensors:

I had easy access to the lambda sensors as I was swapping the downpipes at the time, but you can clearly see where the ports are in this photo:

What is the part number for the pre-cat lambda on my AZJ 2.0l mk1 engine? Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance
