'Sports Technologies' according to Google........

Chris

Hmmm ST Focus ... I love corporate discount!!!!

Problem is insurance would cost me

I had a Focus Ghia as a hire car yesterday. I know it's not the ST, but all I have to say about that car is that it was dull and slow. I hope Ford have some better suspension components to bolt onto the ST...

Unless Ford have sorted their engines out, the ST is gonna drink like a good 'un :)

The 'new' Focus still isn't growing on me either. Between VRS 2 and ST I'd be sending money to the Czechs again....

FORD FOCUS 2.5 ST 3DRS (225) EURO IV -

BLOODY HELL!!!!

Thats so cheap! Where do I sign?

In all seriousness, I'll be down for an ST3 at that money... (if only I wasn't tied to the Furby  )

Never thought I'd be so excited about a Ford!

Sorry Guys - I will not buy a Ford after a problamatic Fiasco I had 9 years ago.

Also, think this way:-

Ford do not limit supply as per VAG group do - lower residuals

Skoda servicing is cheaper than Ford

Every self respecting c.h.a.v. will want the ST 'cos it's a Ford'

Higher insurance grouping.

The more people buying ST's - the more exclusive the VRS becomes.

Skoda reduce the prices during a car's life span (The new mid range Fabia cost less than my first Fabia Classic in 2001).

Personally I prefer the Fabia - intend to buy a VRS in 2006. Any half competetent new hot hatch can only make the dealer keener to give a discount on a Skoda.

Could say more but don't want to put my foot in my mouth.

To all perspective Ford Focus ST buyers - just hope your alarm doesn't go off like Clarksons, on his FORD GT. Don't want to be kept awake at night.

9 years ago, eh? Where were Skoda 9 years ago?! I had several problems with my "ultra-reliable" and "well built" Skoda during 1 year of ownership last year. I've had my Mondeo for 5 months now and not had one single problem with it (even with my alarm ;)).

At the end of the day, if you can't see past the image or the badge, then don't buy a Ford .... but that doesn't mean it's not an excellent car ;)

Chris

Saw my first ST today in Exeter - I have to say it looks OK, and the stripes on it are definitely a "statement" It was only in town so can't comment on performance. It seemed to handle a speed bump OK though. :D

For a Ford Fiesta I have to say  for first impressions.

well, if we're going on a single experience, i'll never be getting a skoda after all the problems my brother's had with his octavia; gearbox, clutch, temperature sensor, abs/asr sensor all dead and the turbo is on it's way out, all this is on a now 4(?) year old car

it took months for the gearbox to be sorted out by skoda uk despite the fact it happened within the unlimited milage warranty period - and once it was sorted out, they decided that it took too long and weren't going to pay.

the seats are comfy, but offer no support whilst cornering, it's got a steering wheel like a bus and the gearbox is far from smooth.

compare that to my '99 focus, which has had...erm...a sticky window rubber and a slight squeek from the parcel shelf

Sadly it wasn't a one off. The car was replace, by the garage, with another one which I only just managed to avoid setting fire to the Tyne Tunnel in it.

I have driven/hired a new Fiesta Ztec last year, and although the car was fine insofar as it didn't let me down, I wasn't happy with it one iota. The build quality on my 675 mile example was dreadful, the air vents hadn't even been put in correctly. And as for performance - even my current 1.2 Fabia feels quicker - and that ain't a ball of fire in the performance stakes.

That being said the Focus ain't bad - but why be a sheep when you can have a wolf in sheep's clothing - especially after uncle Jabba has breathed on an Octy.

And no I'm not completely blinkered to Skoda - I own an MG ZS as well bought for a very good price. This was bought with me totally ignoring what Mr Clarkson said about MGR.

I own an MG ZS

And you slate Ford ;)

just found out the emissions figures - very high so as a companycars its not worth it - the company car tax will be far high :thumbdwn: its a good car but not THAT good.

This made me smile in this month's Sniff Petrol

Steve

Well i'm in the queue for a test drive already!!!!

already know the colour i would get just want to see one in the metal then who knows!!!!

Ford has always been my favourite. However Ford europe havent produced a real performance ford since the escort cosworth. The rs focus wasnt too bad, but as for the focus st, it looks like a pile of crap. Theres nothing sporty about a jellymould. Ford europe should import FPV vehicles from Au with factory lpg conversions.

To be honest, neither of the vRS models look sporty at all and the new Octavia vRS looks less so.

Agree with above, they are cool motors

wonder how much to import one of them??????

something to think about.........................

15499 for a 3dr ST from virgin cars... makes the mk2 vRS look pricey... esp for a 222hp car that can easily be tuned to 300... (simple mods to take it to S60R spec....) unlike the latest gen vw lumps which are terrible to tune... (that goes for 2.0PD as well as FSI on the stories im hearing......)

Seems like the usual Ford tactic of piling them high and selling them cheap :)

Not sure how much truth there is in getting the ST lump upto S60R spec either, surely some of the engine internals are different?

On the VAG engine tuning front, perhaps it has something to do with the Euro IV emissions compliancy? You're right though, haven't heard much about chipping the PD140 (which would be the one I'd be interested in next).

Eh? Sheep? The Focus ST is a bloody great Werewolf in wolves' clothing. And if you think JabbaSport do well with VAG tuning, imagine that the 2.5 Turbo in the Focus will probably be good for 300 BHP on just a chip.

The Focus is a popular car because it's good.

Can't deny it,they are good.Just lacks the exclusivity the last RS had.How many of those do you see on the road?

It is the new XR2 /XR3.Everyone will have one .
