there is going to be a new capri isn't there?

I have heard that rumhour and seen some pics - looks sweet.

Personally, I think the new focus will be a top motor. Ford have really picked up their game over the last few years with improved build and reliability. Handling has always been a forte of the focus and if the new one is better than the old RS (which was touted on many occasions as a better handling car than the CTR), it is bound to be a cracking little car. And if pumabuild in Birmingham can get over 340bhp out of the old focus RS engine, then this new 2.5l version should be pretty special too! :D

I cant see a new capri coming ou any time soon. I would have thought for would have brought something out to rival the monaro. Lets hope its not another probe.

"New Capri". How many times have we heard that before? The Probe and Cougar were both a sales failure... Third time lucky praps?

If the ST Fungus is anything like my old man's V70 2.5 it'll have a lovely exhaust howl

What is 'submarine' lighting. Looks like it's going to be cheaper than new vrs then? Like it but not the orange colour.

We have our first MPS Mazda 6 on the way. As it uses alot of Fords components and floor pan iirc but adds four wheel drive should be interesting.

260 bhp aswell :)

Well there have been a lot of figures discussed....

Engine size, mpg, 0-60 times, number of driven wheels, lap times, prices etc etc.

But for me there is another important figure, and, unless I'm missing something, in this one the Octy is 66% higher than the Focus...

Octy : 5

Focus ST : 3

Any guesses?

Yep - number of doors. May not matter to some - but its does to me!

And in this example the difference is 32%

Yes its boot size :D 560 litres as opposed to 385. Thats a lot of extra beer on those cross channel trips

edited because my maths was crap first time round

Well, this is an old thread, but some new info has come to light about the Focus ST. It WILL be available with 5 doors, and the standard model comes with Recaro seats (10 way electric Recaros are reserved for the higher spec model).

All in all, it looks like Ford have blown Skoda out of the water!

Sorry for being thick but where does it say that it will be available in 5 doors? The Ford UK price list only lists a 3 door version at the moment.

Must admit im not bothered about the "boring" Ford attitude that some people have - if its good i'll go for it. However, im still concerned that its a lot smaller than the Octy - if its 5 doors its a possibility but the loss of the huge Octy boot would be a big issue to me as well.

Octy2 VRS or Focus ST :rubchin:

Well, based on looks, spec and price I know which one I'd go for. And it aint the octy (wouldn't be orange either  ).

Thats a hell of a lot of care for the money. (except in the boot department of course)

I'd say the octavia has to be one of the most boring cars ever. But I love mine ;)

Well, the orange is a limited edition colour. You can have it in red, white, black, silver, grey or blue too. More choice than Skoda offers.

The URL posted shows the car with a 5 door option - I suspect it'll be somewhere around

The ST will be 5 door and est and some form of CC too in the end.

There is the other small point that VW tuners are pretty much giving up on the fsi lump for tuning where as we all know the ST 5 cyl lump will kick 300 hp in volvo trim.....

Sad cos I loved my Octy 1 vRS but cant see the mk2 taking my pennies...

Personally im waiting for the new PSA/Ford+PAG 2.2 hdi which is base trim is kicking 180hp... comes in with new mondeo / x type / revised 407 next year.. just as they up the output onthe 2.7 to approx 240hp to keep the s/disco spinning.... now if they make a focus ST (DCI) with 200 ish that will be interesting.....

I have too say if the old focus still p**ses over most new cars for quality and handling then the New ST will decimate everything including vrs.

The golf 2.0 turbo which the VRS is based on just bet the civic r in the hot hatch stakes after a 3yr reign and that was only because of mid-range punch for hatch of the year 05, the clio trophy isnt powerfull enough in straight line, not much better round corners than VXR but The ST is if info correct on lap times is the WOLRDS quickest FWD car in production today and at

My thoughts exactly. I think Skoda have dropped the ball with the MkII vRS.

Thought you were after a rather nice A8?

Still reckon skoda will sell loads to a certain type of customer.Still think the Focus is a VXR/GTI competitor and yes,it will wipe the floor with them (

I've been to see (and drive) a couple of S8s, and loved them. However, it looks like my job might be changing, meaning I'd have to do more miles. Also, turning up at a client's offices in an S8 might give them the wrong idea. I've been looking at S4s instead. Give it a couple of years and I will probably change to something like the Focus ST (depending on prices and circumstances)

:D:D

was in a focus ST at brands at the weekend

sadly only as a passenger but we had one "shout " for a huge accident on track and did 1/2 lap at high speed . Must say i was Very impressed with it.Makes better noises than the vRS and very very quick. Not adverse comments at all regarding build etc and the price sounds very good compared with the new vRS .... but suspect the emmisionsion and therefore the company car tax will be bad for the v5 focus :(

Oh! justone bad comment - the ST badges on the front wings of the Focus IMHO look REALLY crap and cheap - shame , it spoils the look ofa nice car

You

You

I must admit, generally I am not a huge ford fan, liking only the special cars they make. This looks very special to me, in orange too  Not looking to change my car yet, but I would certainly consider the new st as a contender.
