Mk1 Mini purchase traumas?

Featured Replies

Yea, like you're going to hang around for a week in the hope that he might get back to you when he's finished sunning himself and actually gets around to TRYING to move his scrapper on, bloody eejit.

It wasn't my question btw.

My name is Victor NOT Jack. :D

I know but mine is :notme:

That Mini seems like a no go then! I don't suppose he likes Austin A35s does he?

  • As many people have said Rust is the main factor for Mini's, parts and fairly cheap for them however and many of the body panels are still available, albeit even the heritage panels are getting fiddly

  • Does he mean it doesnt need any welding or it hasnt had any welding? id be very suspicious of a 20 year old mini that has never had any welding done to it,you never know though, but yes a through exami

  • Pretty sure my boss still has this looking for a home   http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/288711-for-sale-1989-mini-automatic-only-22000-miles/?hl=%2Bmini+%2Bautomatic#entry3438040

Gone almost cross eyed looking at ads today tbh.

Nearly everything has been rebuilt/resprayed/refurbished/whatevered.

Not saying that's a bad thing, but would never know just to what standard and what corners may have been cut.

MOT man found some pretty scruffy and minimum welds underneath Moggsy 3 months ago for instance. (NOT dangerous)

Advised me to get it back in there so he can finish it off and tidy up properly.

I know of a 1993 mini thats for sale at your budget. All I know is that it has been restored by P&L (?) 5 years ago, has an italian flag paint job and it is currently SORN in Nottingham. I've met the lad selling it but I do not 'know' him if you know what I mean.

Would you be interested in contact details if I see him at work next week?

You know the bloke I was telling you about with the Escort and 6R4 on the 205GTI thread? Well he's got 5 minis he bought them all as wrecks purely for the fact he would know exactly what's been done to them!

I assume the one I am referring to is advertised elsewhere so you might have come across it already

Dunno matey.

Seen squillions on line now.

All becoming a blur.

I'll hang on for a bit longer to see if Pasty gets back to me, as it looks odds on the example he's mentioned is seemingly completely standard and totally original.

Did you receive my PM Pasty?

I did.

Apologies.

All data is at work so i'll fire it all over tomorrow morning.

Tar.

Got a restless cub here, scouring the pages of everything and anything Mini related, and he's badgering the life out of me....."look at this one. what do you think etc". :notme:

Hopefully going to see an auto box repair specialist tomorrow to get the low down on these boxes
