New (ish ) Rapid.

Hi John,

Assume you got jack and tools etc???

I insisted on a spare wheel for mine as it didn't come with one. My dealer is going to put one in and charge me the factory price (£75) :)

Isn't £75 the half size wheel?  I must admit mine came with a full size spare in the boot which was very pleasing

If you have 15" wheels as standard, then you will have a matching full size factory steel spare. However Skoda don't offer a 16" or 17" steel spare wheel for the Rapid/Spaceback, so I've got the same 15" factory spare but marked as limited to 50mph, as the 185/60 R15 is obviously a narrower and taller tyre profile to the standard 215/40 R17 'rubber bands' on my car.

I think mine is the space saver one as it's definately not a full size Ray alloy he's supplying.

Hi Bidey , the wheel came with jack and tools.

Mine is the full size spare but it does say to limit the speed to 50 mph.

I did wonder how you guys with the larger wheels managed with a 15in spare, guess you just have to limp along kind of slowly

Well done getting one for £75 Stormchaser , you must be good at bargaining, think I am rubbish still am very happy to have a spare now.

Just got back from two weeks away with Newish Rapid, 1800 miles around Scotland and Northumbria. The car went well, very well indeed I am really happy with it ,just needs a good clean now.  I guess I will find the latest stone chips whilst cleaning maybe leave it as is , only joking !!   According to the computer I got 63 miles to the gallon going up to Dornie in the Highlands and even if it is a bit optimistic its still pretty good , 56 on the M6 today coming down from Otterburn was going a bit ,for me anyway , just wanted to get home .

Yes our Rapid seems prone to stone chips; find at least one large/deep enough to need touching in every time I wash it. If it carries on at this rate the bonnet may need a respray within two or three years.

Paint quality/resilience is one area Skoda could really do to improve on.

I think it's the same across the board. The paint on my Civic is terrible. I had a couple of stone chips through to the bare metal after its first winter and it scratches so easily

Haven't got any chips yet. I've only used it a few times since I've had it.

Keep it in the garage Stormchaser, mind you it's only the first one or two that really hurt after that it's just "Patina" !
