Octy 3 taxis, maybe VRS

Featured Replies

Anyone running an octavia 3 as a taxi?

Any feedback?

Looking at buying a new car in a few months, and the new octy & octy vrs have crossed my mind.

Looking for experience of high mileage

All the lads round here have gone over to the rapid/Toledo

Have to say I'm not really a fan of them, they feel a step backwards in build quality from my mk2 octy

Wouldn't the vRS be a bit thirsty for a taxi and the suspension a bit hard for old customers?

Cool car for a taxi though. Round here there used to be a volvo t5 - never understood how he made any money.

Not really, I use a re mapped octavia sport and comfortably get 45+ mpg

The new Vrs I would imagine would be easy 50mpg, not actually seen anyone put a new shape octavia on yet though

Saw my first Octy mk3 taxi today in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Was a saloon TDI dunno which engine though, guessing 2.0?

I saw an Octavia 3 vRS taxi somewhere in Cornwall recently. Maybe St. Ives, maybe Padstow, maybe Newquay - or maybe somewhere else

Edit - Stansted airport is full of Octavia 3 taxis - http://24x7stansted.com/

I struggle to get over 45mpg on my vRS tdi, tank to tank I age rage about 41 or 42 usually. Although I think others get a good bit more.

I do get a lot of moaning from certain passengers about the ride weirdly from someone who used to drive a Mini Cooper.

Only moan I ever get, is never about the ride. It's strangely always about the sport/bucket type seats in the front.

Some of the 'oldies' find them a little hard to get in and out of lol

Not sure how the cheap Octy leather will hold up to too many bums on seats. Seems a bit to soft for heavy duty work.

I get 47mpg max in 6th gear motorway driving with just me onboard......I dread to think what I'd get with three passengers and luggage doing stop-start.

Id say a 1.6CR in S or SE spec a good choice, 2.0 without doubt considerably quicker but then thats not the point of a taxi generally speaking.

A Greenline 3 would be good, touch more power, 6 speed box, based on SE spec and the cheapest to run variant.

I can attest to this, it's the case for most of North Essex. But it's not a bad thing as there are hardly any in private hands.

On topic, I've yet to see a VRS. The new model O3 seems a little less eager on the take up for Taxi firms as you see a lot more mk2 ones even considering the time those have been on sale. It is nice when the drivers are clearly checking my car out.

There will be a 27,000ish mile 13 plate 2.0 TDi DSG Hatch in Elegance spec with a lot of extras on the forecourt of Lightcliffe in Warrington sometime in October which would make an ideal taxi :)

I run a Vrs Octavia est diesel and round town I get 48mpg I do a lot of door to door start stops for a side line I have and I still get very good results.
