Infotainment screen stuck on "Look! Safe to move?"

Featured Replies

A strange thing happened today (on my vrs tdi with standard Bolero setup).  I started the engine and was about to move off when I noticed on the Infotainment screen a warning triangle and the message "Look! Safe to move?".  I have a feeling this normally pops up briefly, but this time it wouldn't go away.  I drove off hoping it would go on its own but it didn't, so I stopped, turned the Bolero off and back on but still the same message was there.  I turned off the car and took the key out of the ignition, then restarted but still the same, and finally took the key out, locked the car, then tried again but still the message was there.

Music was playing, and I could control this as usual through the maxi-dot, but none of the infotainment buttons or touch screen would do anything, apart from the on/off/volume control.  I checked the Bolero manual hoping to find a way to reset it via some press-and-hold button combo, but the only reset described required the touch screen to be working, so Catch 22!

When I returned to the car about 30 mins later it was all working as usual so had somehow cleared itself, but it was a real annoyance at the time.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a known solution other than waiting for a half and hour - and does that always work?

Thanks.

You can hard reboot the Bolero (a bit like a CTRL-ALT-DEL) by holding in the on/off control for about 10 seconds until it powers off. That would have got it working again without resorting to having to wait 30 minutes for the unit to go to sleep after the ignition is turned off.

Ah - many thanks - that's very useful to know and could be helpful in the future.  As it happens I think I very nearly did that - but perhaps not for as long as 10 seconds.

I had the same thing recently. Thanks for the rebooting tip!

I had the same but just the once, I found that once I had turned the car off and left it for a while, everything returned to normal.

Question can you some how disable the LOOK SAFE TO MOVE text box at the bottom as seems it hides the top of my towball and would like to see that
