Bye Bye Yeti !

Featured Replies

Well folks after a lot of thinking , some very uncomfortable journeys and a lot of cash, I've gone back to Honda, I just couldn't get comfortable in the yeti , despite it being a top model. Big mistake not getting the electric seats , thought about getting another with that option but just couldn't bring myself to take the risk again.

The accord is like a driving an armchair for hours on end. I'm sure I'll miss the yeti , maybe when the new one comes out in a couple of years ...............

If it is the Accord S as per signature, how does your back cope with the Sports suspension?

Tony

I got rid of mine, but not because of the seats, but it is uncomfortable compared to my Freelander. And I didn't want to pay for it any more.

You can't yet do any real mods to the Yeti - decent lift, rock sliders etc.

It's the seats that are the problem ,,, I just couldn't find a comfortable position, and believe me I tried , lost a small fortune on it , but just had to go , lesson learnt, do a long long test drive !

Same reason we got shut of ours with less than 9k miles on the clock after 15 months. The wife hated the ride and the seats and although I did not mind too much, I was persuaded to look at the Qashqai and what a difference, seats 100% better, the ride on the 19 inch wheels far superior to the Yeti 17 inch and altogether a different class of motoring, we've already done over 5k miles in under six months and really enjoy our days out now. Although I do miss the all round vision and the quirky looks.

When i first bought my Yeti 1.2 people came up to me to look at it and ask me questions about it,

Wife has just bought an Kia Soul Maxx in yellow only comes in two colours titanium or yellow,

Go to supermarket surrounded by people looking and staring at it,

Drives like like a Yeti slightly higher up driving vision, kids like it better than my Yeti,

I feel inclined to like it, has nice interior

Also found the seating not as comfortable as I'd like, however I had two Yeti's and overall I was very happy with them but also wished with the second I'd gone for the elec seat.

However our recently departed Octy III has to go down as the most uncomfortable car I've come across, partly seat design but the offset too the right foot pedals, were the greatest issue and probably the reason I eventually had so much pain in my right hip joint.

So I just wonder if pedal position had anything to do with the slight discomfort with the Yeti also.

Strangely it's the Fabia II I find the most comfy car in the Skoda range.

I had the type S before the Yet, and LOVED the auto tailgate, the sports seats, the sheer power and acceleration and the looks.

I miss it lots, but the Yeti has BAGS more grin & fun factor.   :D

Here is about the only photo I have and I regret not taking more :(

What have I missed.

What have you got now Tim?

Hi Mike,

ended up with a Spaceback TSI 105, after considering a number of options and other brands; so far very happy with it but will have to hope winter tyres alone will suffice for winter.

Regards as always,

Tim

Ah.

No 4x4 version yet then.

Are they based on the Fabia you like?

Yes in a way, the current Fabia II shares its underpinnings with the previous Polo, the Rapid modified current Polo but there's quite a lot of commonality.

you should be fine, winter tyres alone have been fine on my yeti and prior to that the Octavia and also my wife's golf, even when the weather was like this

Couple of days into type s ownership and the expected pang of regret that I've done the wrong thing just isn't there, I'm loving the honda, it's a rocket propelled lazy boy armchair , just brilliant , with a fantastic sound system , streets ahead of the optional extra sound system I had in the yeti.

Sadly you are probably correct, what was a great car in every respect up to around 12 months ago is now showing its age in every respect, and unfortunately because of the pricing is not looking a good buy.  Because of my affinity with Skoda I will look forward to the next "new" model and by then it should be in competing with the all cars overtaking it in the market place. Unfortunately I have looked and tested a new Octavia to replace our 2006 180kmiles  L & K model and to be honest have not been impressed by this either. So far the time being we may be moving away from Skoda and VAG group cars for the first time in 15 years.

The Octy III is a nice car from my brief six month ownership, albeit I found it progressively became more uncomfortable to drive, so I had to let it go. Tried/looked at a few other brands, such as Volvo, BMW, Toyota, Kia, plus one or two others but eventually ended up in a Rapid Spaceback.

Although the Spaceback is considered by many to be a little 'low rent' particularly the inside, I strangely prefer it to the Octavia III. To me anyway it feels more like a traditional 'old school' Skoda such as the Octavia I; solid, dependable, honest, with no unnecessary frills.

I agree with you on the Rapid; just had one for a day whilst the Yeti was having its AC fixed. Dubious at first about the 1.2 TSi engine but apart from one really long, steep hill seemed fine; best of all got 58mpg on a 110 mile commute.
