That doesn't seem too bad.. Where did you get yours from, and any tips on sourcing a legit engine?

Had almost identical issue to your 5 weeks ago- diesel leak from fuel filter perishes fan belt which disintegrates into cambelt which skips 5 teeth. 12 new valves and 16 rocker arms replaced. Garage reckon it would have cost £3k but they cover costs due to diesel leak. I only had to pay £400 for new cambelt and a seized glow plug.

I breathe big sigh of relief.

3 weeks later lose power then engine stalls. Garage are saying there is swarf in fuel system and most likely cause is failed high pressure fuel pump (yet to be confirmed), and if so it's unrelated to all the engine work done just 3 weeks ago. I've obviously got a different view of the cause! We'll cross that bridge later..

Likely to need whole new fuel system including fuel pump and injectors, all they've said is that repair costs may be "prohibitive".

I have a spare fuel pump and injectors, they will be for sale in the new year.

I actually have a fair bit of oil/diesel around the boost pipe near the AUX belt, so i'll check that out as that may be why the belt failed. I presumed that was just a leaky intercooler pipe and the crap that comes out of them.

The engine was just from ebay, i had been watching a few different ones, but in the end went for the one that had the turbo and injectors etc still on it. That way i've got spare turbo, pump, injectors and what ever else i can salvage from my broken engine.

Might be interested in those. Let me know when up for sale. Will you be selling the pump and injectors from your old engine? What mileage?

Mine leaked diesel from under the fuel filter cap by the o-ring. Fairly common apparently.

I don't know what the plan is for using what yet, but i will probably get them all stripped and overhauled whilst there out of the engine.

I'm just in the process of sorting out a GTB2260VK turbo, so might need a bigger fuel pump anyway ;)

Yer engine is knackered.

So had a bit of fun yesterday sorting out the new engine. Swapped over altinator, aircon and electric water pump. Removed the whole EGR system. Adapted the coolant hoses as the thermostat body is different from my car to the newer CEGA engine. Also swapped looms as the loom that came with the new engine had a cut in it for the electric water pump.

Fitted new timing belt kit and waterpump and new AUX belt.

Swapped over the intakes as the new CEGA engine is all plastic, i liked the metal intake better. Fitted SMF and clutch so engine is basically ready to be refitted.

Friday the gearbox will be split and LSD fitted.

Yer i like them too much really.

I don't have a spare that fits over my brakes so another one was the easy option.

Cool at least you are not doing it on your drive lol
