Which diesel is best? 1.9PD, 1.6CR or something else

Featured Replies

Personally, after owning a few Octavia's and one Fabia - I'd never own another Fabia and I'd live with the Octavia. But, personal preference.

£500 isn't exactly a lot of money a year considering the enjoyment you'd have and not thinking about the build quality.

Wait and buy the new 313mpg 2cyl diesel/hybrid VW are putting into production.

Yeah... that's nice... if you have £100,000!

If the car is still good then just buy a warranty from someone like warrantydirect - there's probably others but they're the only one I can remember from their TV adverts.

No trade in loss, no gamble with another 100K+ car which might have problems.

54-58mpg from a fully loaded Octavia is good, not many cars will better that from the VAG stable for the price/age you're after.

hi, further to my previous reply having just driven some 400 miles with a fully laden ( 3 adults, I weigh in at 16st +, well that's what I admit to, and my daughters ''essentials'' for uni )1.9 tdi Octavia estate and then a return trip, with a much lighter load, I have averaged 59.06 mpg, brim to brim calculations which considering the weight, mainly motorway and the hazard of driving around Bristol city center, I find exceptional, and endorses my indicated 63 ish day to day mpg..........
