Successful stories of paint warranty claims, please offer your advice and experience.

Featured Replies

Whilst I'm out detailing the car this morning I've come across some slight blemishes under the rear numberplate which are early stages of rust coming through the paintwork.

I'm after some advice and pictures from people who have managed to make successful claims under the warranty, how bad was your own car, mileage on the cars, FSH or not and at which dealer did you go too for it? How did you approach the subject with the dealer etc

Cheers for the replies guys, Kiddy have you have pics of how small the rust spots was on your car? As I know mine are very tiny and hard to pick up on the camera but there is around 4/5 of them

No pics I'm afraid, but they were tiny.... I'm talking mm's across.

ok folks

Another good news story to add to the list.... I took my 2006 VRS into Simpsons Skoda Preston 4 weeks ago after reading about warranty claims on the other longer thread. I had noticed paint bubbling along the bottom edge of the drivers door along with rust starting to break through the paint. I've just had a call saying the work has been authorised and they'll phone me soon with a date to fetch it in.

Very Happy Indeed

No problem Kiddy, sound like similar size to my own.

That's good news Chris, I took my last vRS to Simpsons in Colne when I noticed a few small pin pricks of rust forming under the numberplate, I had to chase them up about it all and in the end they declined to carry out the work. Maybe worth the short trip over to Preston if they have authorised yourself.

Just out of curiosity, if you get turned down at one dealers, does it go on record (so to speak?). Like, could you try a few different dealers? Or is it once one has said no, that's it.

I'd imagine it 'gets around' in as much Skoda UK will have it on record. As I assume the dealer applies to Skoda UK to cover the cost which will be recorded on your "file".

I doubt the dealer would do it free of charge so to speak unless you really are loyal or they see a benefit in it for them longer term.

Granted they don't look very bad to some people but I try my best to look after my paintwork and it's one of those things that I know is there and will bug me and would rather it be sorted before it gets much worse.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just been called by the affiliated Simpsons Skoda body shop to be told that the corrosion along the bottom of my drivers door has been deemed unrepairable. The door is being replaced with a new one....
