Audio muting on Columbus unit when reversing

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had the Columbus unit in my '09 Superb replaced (under warranty by good dealer) after it failed 2 months after I bought the car. Now this may just be my memory given that I hadn't had the car that long before it was replaced, but the new unit mutes the audio (regardless of source) when you engage reverse and I'n sure the old unit never did that.

It's quite annoying and not really necessary as the parking sensor beeps are loud enough to be heard over whatever you are listening to. Is there a setting that will disable this feature?

I've looked through menus, etc. but can't find anything.

Thanks,

David

It is in the tone menu.. PDC

This can be changed in the Columbus menu

TONE mode
Tone settings

PDC: Reduce audio vol. - Setting the reduction of the volume when the park distance
control is active
Off - switches off
Low - weak reduction
Medium - medium input sensitivity
High - strong reduction

It happened to me the opposite way round; I don't know how to get the muting back.  :wonder:

I've found it rather fickle.

Mine is set to mute as much as it can but some days/weeks it does and some it doesn't.

Can't find any reason why it would or wouldn't, but there you go.

It is in the 'Tone' menu as above.

Cheers, Stu. I'll give that a go.

I would have just posted this but I get database errors for some reason... see attached text file for full details :)

Colin made aware if issue I had

Have to agree with you there. I have it set up ok in the menus but it can be hit and miss at times. One thing I do notice is that after a service or work done at the dealers, settings such as this have to be reset sometimes

After my last service lots of the personalised settings - footwell light brightness, rear wiper that annoying alarm beep were all back to factory defaults - very irritating.
