Lights on a Felicia

Featured Replies

I have an old Felicia (W reg, estate model).  Runs well, flies through the MOT and low mileage - all great!  Today I went to start her and she started with no issue but it was a little foggy so I figured that I would put the lights on.  Parked car and realised as I was walking off that I had left the lights on, went back to the car and couldn't see any lights - checked and they were switched on but nada.  I thought it could be a fuse, but then checked the images online and realised it was unlikely to be all the fuses blowing at once, so what else could it be?

Anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks in advance.

Mandy

Does the windscreen leak? It's quite common for them to leak into the fusebox and it causes odd electrical gremlins. My fun truck leaks like a sieve and also does the same thing as you describe, also sometimes the headlights will switch on without the switch being on etc, it's all caused by the fusebox being full up with rainwater.

Thanks for the reply TeflonTom, not sure if the windscreen leaks or not...I don't think so.  Need to go out and have a look at where the fuse box is in the car so that I can check it for water,  I don't have the manual so will be googling it :)

TeflonTom you are a star!!

Wasn't a lot of water in it, but a little bit - found the problem and have put some silicon on it...have dried it all out as best as I can and the lights are all on now, will leave it open to air out more for the rest of the day.

Thank you so much for your advice.

Hello! I'm new on this Forum and my english isn't so good, but i try to write here my problem with my felicia!

I think I'll get here a solution for this problem.

Well, I bought a '97 Felicia LX 1.9 D, and two day after buying a I realised my dipped beam is not light

I changed fuses and relay too, and i thought problem is solved, because lights was okay.
But i drive 1-2 hours and i stopped the car (i go to shopping) when i want to start again, dipped beam wasn't again.

Daily first start always okay the lights, but i think when the car is heating up a bit, no more driving beam, only position light.
Problem is always come on starts!

What can cause the problem?

Thanks for answers!

check if fuses S7 and S8 are good (measure them, not just replace them)

check for corrosion at headlight connectors.

are the side lights (parking lights) working?

if all is good you have a broken headlights switch.

I'm guessing the same problem as above. You have  or had water in the fuse box and it has rusted the connections and the control board the fuses and relays plug into.

It gives odd electrical problems. On mine the indicators turn on the wipers. :-)

Nah, I changed the indicator lights switcher, but the dip beam is going off again! I Checked the fuses S7 and S8, fuses are okay. When I check the fuses, and put back into the fuse box, i test the lights and ta-da every lights okay!

Maybe cause the problem the fuse box (Water-corrosion problem!) ???

Maybe cause the problem the fuse box (Water-corrosion problem!) ???

it is too big coincidence that both headlight fuses (and only them) were corroded.

I suggest turn ignition on, switch headlights on and start wiggling each wire that get into relay/fuse panel.

have a friend tell you if headlights flicker while doing that.

then use the handle of a screwdriver to tap on each relay and fuse and again see if the headlights flicker.

tap on the headlights switch too.
