Away from you or towards

Has anyone had a drama removing there filter??

Yes, let a garage change it once when I took it in for a cambelt. The next year when replacing it I couldn't get it off without buying one of those 3/8ths drive caps that goes onto the bottom and even then it took some effort. Had no chance without it.

However, I've changed it once since and had no leaks so fortunately nothing was damaged. Never had this problem until I let a garage change it either.

cant remember on the car but most of the machines in work screw off clockwise. never did mine up crazy tight anyway.

Yeah got one of those! Piece of crap won't grip! Problem is I don't like being defeated by inament objects

99% sure these are anti clockwise to unscrew..arent going the wrong way are you...do it from the underneath of the car facing up

Go get some marigolds for 99p and get a good grip any twist the batch off

stab it in back :)  and then unscrew

Pure brute force lol wasn't messing about anymore! [emoji6]

Lefty loosey, righty tighty.

Anti-clock wise to undo, so turn to the right to fit/tighten.

Some of the John Deere and Toro machines in work defo hav opposite to the rule filters. Surprised me last time I was changing a hydraulic oil one.not very relevant to Skoda I know:/

If find that if my chain wrench doesn't grip when I place of bit of sandpaper on the filter, then a strip of aluminium and then use the chain wrench.  Works a treat on the plastic diesel covers for the Octy too.

Just had a similar issue but with my wife's Ford Ka I bought yesterday.

Bought a clamp type wrench. Has 3 clamps and tightens on the end with a 1/2 inch socket wrench. Motormania.

Issue with the sump plug also.

I think HULK put both on!

Hope they haven't done the same with my octavia. Will find out in Decemebr. But at least the oil filter is easier to get to than on the KA.
