Fabia mk2 average age of driver?

Featured Replies

So ive noticed recently that nearly every fabia mk2 i see on the road has a pensioner driving it, (not moaning before i get age'ist remarks), just something i noted whilst driving lol. any ideas why these are popular with the older folk? am i driving a car meant for an older generation :D ?

I've had a couple of people tell me I'm driving an old fart's car (mine is the mk1 but still), I guess that's why the insurance is cheap. I have seen a lot of older folk driving the fabia II though, more than the fabia I, no idea what it is about it that makes it appeal to them...

Yes.

Until the New Crispier, Sportier, Youthful, Connective, Lush New Fabia comes out, and then even more oldies will buy them.

There are, just on this forum,

17 year olds and 71 year olds plus with them.   and lots in between obviously.

Easy in and out Fabias for Oldies, boring looks, and VFM,  all the car that many need, and the best selling Skoda in the UK,

and Cheap Insurance & maintenance .

Even the vRS can be cheap for young drivers, and its common to see older drivers in them.

Don't worry, the way the pension age is going up soon seeing a pensioner drive will be rare.  We will all be working much longer than in the past and will be lucky to still have our driving licences when we eventually get to retirement age:-)

Havent seen me driving mine then

Im only 21! Aha.

I couldnt care less if people say its an old persons car. I like it :).

My dad was 69 when he bought his, 74 when has passed away still owning the Fabia. We are now trying to sell it, its had virtually no use since May but is proving difficult to sell as well.

Im 27 in a vrs. Swmbo is getting a monte and is 22. My mum likes my car but not the 'jerkyness' (the supercharger) she has never had a forced induction car so it catches her out a lot. I have never had the 'old mans car' remark, but I still get the skoda preconception a lot. Nearly every day in fact. Until they sit in the car on a good drive. Then they seem to say 'well their just made by vw now arent they'

I was 17 when I got mine, 2 weeks from being 18. I'm 19 in a months time. I have to say though, I've only ever seen older people in them.

Unfortunately, my average age goes up each year... currently somewhere in the mid-fifties

Well I have had my Fabia nearly 4 years and I am now 47. What does constitute a young persons car? I`m no longer a young person. Certainly some marques have an image that they like to portray but a lot of the time you have to pay for that image......Think Mini.....I buy a car to do a job....a car to me is a tool to make my life easier.

I am 45 and love my Mk2 Furby and i do see quite a few older folk driving them, but i have also seen young families driving around in them as well.

The fabia mk2 is quite high and narrow.

People my age seem to like low and wide.

I'm not bothered though. I enjoy driving my car, take it steady and chill. I blast em all off on the bike instead :).

Never mind the Girth, feel the width.

we know an extra 3 1/2" makes all the Difference,

the difference between the ooo or ahhhh.

Does the Polo or A1 prove more attractive to the opposite sex because it is 90 mm wider and 30 mm lower, or just because it costs a few thousand more

and appeals to those that suffer from badge snobbery.

Parents have a Monte, Dad is 73, mom is 69...

You think the average age for a Fabia driver is old,   Just bought my Mum (84) a Ford Fusion- now that is for the old.  Mind you it does have a sequential gearbox :envy:

Must be a coincidence that the 3 1/2" wider car has a badge with 4 rings then.

Seriously though. My mate doesnt like my car because it feels high when you sit in it. He sits on the floor in his wanna be racing civic.

We all have different views on whats 'cool'.

To be fair, I would like my seats to sit lower. My head nearly touches the roof with the seat at its lowest. But I dont want buckets.

I know what you mean. Id probably have it abit lower if it would go any.

But still. I dont wish to put low profile tyres, coilovers and a big exhaust on something that isnt fast anyway. Maybe im just old before my time where normal cars are concerned haha.

Ahh good it's not just me then :)

I hate cars that are made to look fast unless they really are as well as people that put straight through exhausts on a Corsa 1.0 :/

I think id end up crashing it on purpose if i had that.

My mate cant understand it. Doesnt understand that im not bothered its not quick, i just prefer to drive around in comfort.

Unless i got a really quick car, then id like it to sound good.

Hence keeping my 1.4 Comfort relatively standard with comfort upgrades when it arrives and the Blue Fabia as a track beast!

'Blue Fabia' ?

Is your Dad getting a Twincharger Estate, or is this some other Fabia?
