Hi all,

My father in law decided to change his 60 PS GL Elegance CitiGo with a Move UP! (SE equivalent). He got a very good deal on a pre reg and we bought it yesterday. It was quite a long drive to get back home and I ended up driving the car.

I really liked the car, even though the trios are based on the same platform however UP! Still felt quiet refined. I found the engine very smooth, very nippy, suspension was very soft (took lumps and bumps very nicely) and interior and exterior finishing was much better.

I like my sport a lot and have no plans of changing her.

I think this might refer to W's intention to include Electronic Stability Control and Digital Audio Broadscating to 2015 VW's Up!'s thus conferring uniformity to the entire VW range.

 

But I could be wrong.

I can't have made in clear in the above post....VW are to include ECS and DAB in their whole reange from 2015.

 

As would, hopefully, have been gleaned from.....I think this might refer to VW's intention to include Electronic Stability Control and Digital Audio Broadscating to 2015 VW's Up!'s thus conferring uniformity to the entire VW range.

I can't find anything in terms of build quality or performance to differentiate my CitiGo from my parent's Up!. I prefer the CitiGo's circular steering wheel to the flat-bottomed thing on the Up! that makes pull/push feel odd. And I think I got much better value for money.

I quite like UP's steering wheel however I have always hated non leather wheels. You are absolutely right ettlz regarding the value for money. I love every bit of citigo...

I've ordered a Citigo Monte Carlo and one of the deciding factors was the flat-bottomed steering wheel! Horses for courses! LOL!!!

I would love to have MC's steering wheel....

Getting into really silly details, I find rearward-visibility slightly better on the 3-door CitiGo than on the Up!: the hindquarter panels sweep up slightly on the latter.

 

And let's not forget the Mii -- I think the SEAT has the nicest interior styling of the three.

The UP! has a DAB Radio option, and one of my goals in life is to retrofit this to the Citigo (a task now made easier since the most recent update to the PID included "Preparation for DAB compatibility")

I really annoyed me that this was kept for the UP! only, so if anyone stumbles across an UP being broken, let me know

 

Is this DAB radio DAB ONLY? I ask because I have been running a DAB add on adapter in my cars for a  number of years and find that the DAB coverage is very patchy. Bear in mind that with DAB reception is either perfect or silent! With this in mind I would want a radio that had DAB, FM and AM to cover the variations across the country.

On a recent trip to North Wales for example, out of 10; DAB=0, FM=0-3, AM=5-9!

The VW UP!, Seat Mii and Skoda Citigo are all made on the same production line, just different parts fitted to front and rear. in theory they should have the same build quality as the workers and fabrication kit are exactly the same.

The Citigo is not build in CZ at any of the main Skoda plants, its produced in a new Slovak facility in Bratislava along with its siblings.

Two more production plants were established at Kvasiny and Vrchlabí in the Czech Republic (at that time, it was still Czechoslovakia) prior to the Second World War. In recent years, production has especially expanded into the developing markets which account for a large amount of automobile sales: for example, in China, India and Russia. The ŠKODA Citigo vehicles are also newly manufactured at the Volkswagen Concern’s production plant in Bratislava, Slovakia..

I wouldnt have thought so. It usually runs along side FM.

I like in the peak district and DAB is extremely patchy here too. Almost unusable really.

This amazes me, as I travel to North Wales often (I used to live in Colwyn Bay on the coast), and apart from Rhuallt Hill (where all radiosignal is lost), I've never had DAB in the Octavia go quiet on me

The type of aerial does make a big difference but it is still "line fo sight" so variations in geography make a vast difference. The bigger thing in my mind is that the coverage is nowhere near as good as claimed by the broadcasters. I think Llangraham queried this with the broadcasters and was told " we currently have no plans to improve reception in your area".

That's the main reason for my belt and braces AM/FM/DAB approach.

Only in the UK.. in proper countries (or rather countries with proper Skoda importers) it is available on the Citigo too.

 

As for the differences between the up!, Citigo, and Mii, as has been said they're all built on the same production line, so the differences are really only in the 'decoration'..

Thats great news.

Ordered my Red Citigo Monte Carlo a few months ago now, been told this morning its finally built :clap: and on its way from the factory.

Good few weeks wait still I suspect.
