VCDS changes

Featured Replies

If you make some changes then before visiting the dealer you obviously have to reverse this back? Can these things be tracked down?

you can save your existing configuration before making changes and reload that I believe.

You should also be able to reverse any changes that you know you have made.

My dealer didn't even notice that both rear fogs were enabled and the DRLs flashed alternately with the indicators, never mind any of the less obvious changes like mirror dip or rain closing, or the needle sweep.

Then again, they were as thick as pig **** and couldn't enable the speed limit display on the Columbus and didn't notice an error code for a wiring short to earth when servicing the car.

You can't - that would be much too easy :)

As it is mainly adaptation channels you are changing, you need to go through them one by one to reverse the changes.

Why change them back? The car can do it without harm to itself so what's the dealers response to you if they do notice, "We won't honour the warranty because you enabled cornering fog lights & didn't pay for it?"

If they say that then tell them they are twits and visit another dealer. They lose the business and a potential future sale as well. You could advise them to purchase a VCDS cable and offer free / cut price options via them, so all the profit is all theirs. I sure as he'll won't pay £100 for cornering fogs when all it took was 5 mins of VCDS'ing and a bottle of wine!

And not just cornering fogs - high beam assist springs to mind as the £300 option on a vRS

A much better example than cornering fogs. Pity I didn't option this on mine when it was tinkered with and it's a pity you can't enable leather seats either for a bottle of wine!

Next time I think but still reckon the leather seats would be a long shot...

As a newbie to the Skoda scene, what sort of programmes/options could I have enabled/activated to my Black edition via the VCDS? Cheers
