Finally got round to putting the RAM mount in the dash top box, and rerouted the USB to a charger on a permanent live in the fusebox rather than into the back of the Alpine control unit (so I can have 2A charging all the time rather than 0.8A only when the DAB is on.

Tablet position is actually quite good, shielded from the sun and the lid doesn't obscure forward vision in the way the photo suggests that it might.

Nice. I have a similar solution in MY2012 Yeti.

I'am  using Brodit power unit. The top box is the best place for a tablet with navigation software and the lid is a good sun shade.

Is the Amundsen sat nav really so bad you have to use another system? I admit I only use mine very occasionally.....

Looks brilliant but a lot of work, well done :)

Navfree is a lot nicer than the Amundsen, but the main reason I wanted to pop it in there was for OBDlink and Torque Pro.

Very tidy. Looks good.

Very nice - i like the install plus the Ezi-DAB too - great work!

To be fair, the USB through to the fuse box and the RAM mount were both remarkably easy. I reckon you're probably looking at an hour tops from start to finish. The USB socket should be there from the factory (or in the "jumbo" box to allow the phone to be charged out of sight

Routing the Alpine control cable through the front vent rather than under it and installing the rest of the DAB kit (inc running the new cable to the replacement roof aerial) were the time consuming things

The Brodit unit is good, but the RAM kit gives me the flexibility I need to transfer the tablet over to the motorbike :-)

Nice job.

You cannot take the Amundsen/Columbus with you when you leave the car. Tablet software is easier and cheaper to update and you have choices. Because of the flexibility I have the Bolero System and a tablet, not a build-in navigation system.

As I've previously posted, one of my only gripes after a great year of Yeti ownership is the position of the MDI connection. Having it in full view means removing the i-pod each time you park up.

If you DON'T spec the MDI then you get a jack plug socket IN THE JUMBO/ARM REST BOX!

Are there any posts showing 'how to' re-route the wiring to the dash-top cubby box.

Really enjoy reading of other's modifications to make a good car great.

Nothing I can see in the "Projects"

Interesting. My Yeti (2013 SE plus) has neither MDI nor the jack plug in the jumbo, just the line in on the front of the radio.
