  • I am now code 30 - it has been built, left the factory, and on the way to Emden!

  • Tom at skoda will be calling me tomorrow or Thursday to confirm that it's locked in for wk39. Retail support don't expect it to change so all should be good to go

  • Yeah I'm the same, he's gonna call me on Monday or Tuesday with an update. To be fair he has called me once a week with an update and will continue till my car is delivered. Which if build next week I

My vrs should have arrived in the uk yesterday. Will get an update this week

My octy build week had already been pushed back to from week 33 to week 38, i.e this week.

Spoke to dealer yesterday "oh its been put back again to 43"

Spoke to Skoda CS who say, actually it hasn't got a "confirmed" date yet and all he can do is apologise!!

Ordered early June, looks like I'll be lucky to have it before 2015, it's only an estate SE with xenons, and a couple of other options, certainly nothing out of the ordinary.

Seriously thinking of looking elsewhere, Leon St or something.

apologies for the moaning

That's pretty good, waited 7 months for mine only took delivery last week!

Ordered mine July 19th. Arrived at the dealers on Friday. I get to pick it up next week :)

Amazed how quick it turned around considering some of the stories on here.

total lottery on the order? or something else that delays some and not others?

I'm still not sure how they got mine so quickly    (supposedly - it hasn't arrived yet !!)

When the salesman got onto his computer he was able to say there was one built and soon on its way, so long as I didn't mind the colour change.

I wonder now could it have been a cancelled order? If they are in such short supply and much sought after, I wonder how I got allocated this one - if it happens that is!

If it turns up as promised, it will have been approximately 5 weeks from the initial order.

It's a lottery of when all your parts are available at the same time. So generally more spec = more time, but you could fluke all the parts of a high spec car being ready not long after order.

They also build batches of similar cars, for example all LHD with pano roof. So depends when the next batch your car fits into gets enough similar cars ordered to make it worth producing a load.

All of VAG use the same method, so Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW all suffer the same lottery effect on factory spec'd cars.

My orders now "code 20" for next weeks build.

Just seen a transporter full of new Skodas heading southbound on the M3.

Amongst them, a rather tasty looking L & K Octavia in Metal Grey. Anybody waiting on one?!

Ordered my VRS in Feb. Advised of 5 month wait. In April, dealer said it might come in June. This then moved to July. Car produced early July. Phone call from dealer on 23rd to say train transporter derailed in Czech Republic and my car along with 50 others damaged !! (Anyone else affected by this ?) My order given priority build for September and dealer provided courtesy car (diesel VRS hatch with DSG). Finally took delivery on 24 Sept, 7 months after ordering.

Quote EDNMRA : "I wonder now could it have been a cancelled order? If they are in such short supply and much sought after, I wonder how I got allocated this one - if it happens that is!"

When order lead times get longer, it's quite normal for dealers to place "ghost orders" with the factory, which are not based on a firm customer order. Dealers hope to sell these vehicles, ideally before they even arrive in the yard. The problem for vehicle manufacturers is that these "ghost orders" increase the size of the already bursting orderbook, which extends the lead time for normal customer orders.

Mine is currently at the dealership. Ordered 5th July. Unfortunately I can't pick it up until Saturday next week but at least it's here. Was originally told it would be here by the end of Sept so not too far off.

I am now code 30 - it has been built, left the factory, and on the way to Emden!

I'm due to collect my vrs estate this coming week.

I am going to test drive a 1.4TSI DSG on Tuesday, and had intended to order my 1.4TSI DSG Elegance Estate with Sunset Glass soon after and anticipated a delivery early (Jan?) 2015. Having read a few supply delay threads here it would seem I may be living in cloud cuckoo land. My wife will pick up her new Rapid Spaceback at the same visit.

I am not sure how to play this 'potential' delay with the dealer in regards to my PX. If he says delivery in 10-12 weeks and the car has not arrived should I insist that they provide a courtesy car until such time as my order is delivered to them? I would make this clear to them in writing at time of order, or get some sort of written agreement from them to the same effect. Then comes the PX value, it would seem they can give a value based on a forward date to coincide with the 10-12 weeks. if again the delivery is delayed they should honour the agreed value, assuming they cannot supply a courtesy car and I give them my car two months later than the planned change?

Any suggestions as to how to correctly approach this with the dealer would be appreciated!

When I ordered they gave me a trade in based on expected delivery of new car, approx 10-12 weeks from order.

I "think" they will only offer a courtesy if its delayed past the 5 month point from ordering

I'm now on Code 38 !!!

so nearly there

I was code 38 a week ago, I'm hoping it was on African Highway that docked at Grimsby yesterday evening.

Out of interest andyvee, how do you find out your code has changed. Keep calling the dealer?

Nope, the dealer or SUK CS keep calling me :)

Ordered an Elegance estate 1.4 TSI DSG Metal Grey (+ Columbus & Canton) last week of July (from buyanewcaronline) - was quoted 12-14 weeks, and just heard today that it's being delivered next week, so will be exactly 14 weeks.

This thread (& others!) had got me a little worried that I wouldn't see it until next year (especially as it wasn't direct from a dealer). Now all excited!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Me car is still at Emden  code 38

However, It's due to be on a ship into the Tyne, either this Sunday, or next Friday.
