Talk to me about Vans/Commercial vehicles

Yup, vauxhall do a VXR kit.

For the Combo? :o it's probably cheaper getting the parts of a Corsa but all sorts can be done to personalise it like this 2.0 VXR Blue Combo I rather like

Hopefully Mercedes have fixed the rust issue on the lastest Vito, the earlier models really were rot boxes.

Get a VW with the 180 tdi engine.

You can literally spend as much as you like on them haha.

Very nice but expensive! Caravels with Sportline body kit :)

My mates caravelle has a 5 pot 170bhp PD lump in it. Even for an auto with all the aerodynamics of a bungalow it shifts.

Yeah, they do shift!

Its half the engine that was used in the touareg, 5.0 litre v10.

I'm not exactly sure about the new 2.0 litre version. Everythings gone 2 litre hasnt it. The golf R instead of R32 for example. Emissions eh!

Wonder if the 180 is as good as the 174 was...

ok.

We've come to the conclusion that there isn't an all rounder so now investigating option 2, a van with 3 seats & me not having a car.

Top of my list is a Citroen Dispatch SWB 2l hdi  (this one is an example, although it does come with the optional solid bulkhead), I will also consider the 96-06 model too

It's a similar size to the SMAX externally so will be fine parking in car parks (inc multi storey) etc & 'should' offer enough cargo space should the need arrise to transport 2-3 bikes + tools etc & allow me to use it as an everyday vehicle for myself. I know the front 2 seats are squashed but they wont be used very often and when they are will be used for journeys under 10miles.

Has anyone experience of these vans?

The 1.9 is known to be sluggish but have a test drive and see. The 2.0 hdi seems rarer but a better buy.

Seem very good vans. Not had one myself but know a few that have and they love em.

Its essentially the same van as a pug expert or fiat scudo. However the Fiat has different electrics which can be problematic.

get solid bulkhead no matter wat u buy... Mesh b.head just means road noise, rain noise, and taking 3 days to warm up on a cold morning...

Never had the heating up issue with the vans I've had.

Vans with bulkheads do warm up quicker in the cabin.

Also the noise is alot better. Especially if youre carrying tools n things that make all sorts of noises as they move about abit over the bumps

I'm sure this van has welded shocks ;) it's got such a harsh ride I need to check it.

I've driving the fiat version of this van with the 120 engine. The seating position is very car like, much better than the transporter that replaced it. They are good vans but do have funny gearing in 1st and 2nd. There not hard to find with lots of toys added to them.
