Confused on which interior LEDs to get?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have read quite a few threads on interior lights and leds etc but nearly all the links for the leds are out of date and I have no clue about car lights and leds etc and was wondering if someone could send me a link to some strong leds for the map reader and lights next to it as well as the number plate leds as well? Much appreciated, have been looking for the last hour or two with no luck and i'm clueless...

Thank you

All depends what colour you want etc your interior lights are 501 and your middle one is the same as your licence plate lights. Get them off eBay etc. Here some pics of mine

Try these 2 links, you need Canbus error free ones so they don't light up the warning light on the dash. I think the interior festoon bulb is a 39mm one and the numberplate bulbs are 36mm bulbs but cant't remember now, it's over a year ago when I fitted mine, all purchased off FleaBay with no problems.

The w501w bulbs for the map reading lights are the same as your sidelights and boot light.

Mine aren't cambus free and I get no warning lights and my middle interior is the exact same as my number plate size etc and I fitted them easy and everything works with no warning lights on dash or on the computer

Thank you, so the number plate and middle interior are definitely the same size? 36mm? or 39mm?

All the other post are spot on so not disputing their comments btw just giving you my personal experience of what I used with no problems new pics loaded now :). yjyheqaz.jpgava4yqyg.jpga2e8y5yt.jpg

The festoon numberplate bulbs are 38mm so should be the same size for the interior light, just checked on AutobulbsDirect.

Just reading on this other thread and some people are saying 44mm for interior and number plate is smaller? It's getting me confused :D  :peek:

42mm rings a bell, but now I'm confused, I'm not near the car so can't go and check.

I'm near the car but I don't know how to pop the plastic off the interior lights and the number plate? The number plate has no screws and the interior looks difficult to take off?

Think I prefer the blue look :D still nice though

Mine's a 2013 Monte Tech, it's defo 42mm but you can fit the smaller size, you just have to bend the connector pins in to close the gap.

I fitted the interior one first and the spare one I had wouldn't fit the numberplate light as it was too big, hence having to then buy the smaller ones.

In the words of Celine Dion, 'It's all coming back to me now'!!!

41mm should fit fine then for the interior? Ah that's annoying because the link I have is for 10x 41mm LEDs so what am I gunna do with the other 9? Any idea what size the number plate might have been? and lol :D  :D

It's 38mm so unless you can bend the pins out over, your 41mm interior bulbs will be too big.

1x 42mm Central Festoon, and 2x W5W/501 LED Bulbs... None are Canbus (don't think the Canbus system monitors interior lights!) - Grand total spent of £5 (the Festoons came as a pair, so I have a spare!)

Looking at the exterior Bulbs, I've had some problems, even with Error-Free bulbs, replacing my DRL's so I'm not gonna even try the Numberplate bulbs... I think my Canbus system is a little sensitive! :D

I've had no bother with any of my interior or exterior LEDs and I always buy Can bus error free ones, even the DRLs.

I bought the ones recommended in the DRL thread, and they immediately popped up the Error on the Dash! :(

Canbus doesnt monitor interior lights, but if you put an led in which isnt Canbus friendly, it might glow a little when turned off.

Canbus leds just have a resistor built in.

The confusion over which length number plate bulbs fit is because theirs 2 different types of holders.

The older cars have the torx screw in and take a 42mm i think.

And the newer ones have to be prised out (theres no screws) and i think these are 38mm.

Iv got the later type, so will look back on my e-mails to double check if its of any use to anybody.
