New Vrs and first thoughts

Featured Replies

Hi,

After 5 and a half months wait, picked up the new car on Saturday. I've had a 320d Touring for the last 2 yrs and done 45,000 miles in it and that goes back to lease company tomorrow. I've come out of the Co' car scheme due to high tax (I had fuel benefit as well) and a good cash for car scheme at work.

My spec is - VRS estate manual - leather, Columbus, black pack, sunset, Canton...maybe others but forgot already...colour is race blue

Initial impressions - There is a big improvement in throttle response on any setting which was one of my moans about the BM

Little disappointed about the steering but this is in keeping to VAG hire cars i've had. Nothing wrong with it but just lacks any feedback which is a real shame for such a thoroughly capable car.

Brakes seem great but obviously taking it steady so far.

Quality of interior is really impressive.

All the options and menus are a little mind boggling right now and need to spend some time in the car and not driving.

The ride is very firm and the whole car seems poised for action which is not like the BM and I love this too. It's a bit like my old classic scoob but a bit stiffer and lacking steering feel.

Didn't realise it had lights that adjust in corners at low speed ! doh ! i'm sure there is a proper name for them...

I know have 2 x 64gb of FLAC music and the sound is really good and hoping for some more clarity when it runs in some more.

If i likened the Vrs to a go kart then the BM would be like a ride on lawn mower.

Steve.

Welcome Steve. Get some photos up

Cool review.

Apart from colour, I can confidently say:

What he said ^^^

Strange coincidence - ex scoob owner too, same spec, same ordering time, same delivery day.

Top car. 300 miles done and it's pretty good.

Ok, not a 330bhp AWD Scoobaroo in pure performance terms but it's a fun car and well chuffed with it I have to say.

SteveB,

Got this message today In Transit from factory to Germany Port

Will look out for you in Bristol (in Red vRS Diesel Estate (or Mk1 Black vRS Fabia!!))

Cheers

Good min review, my car is v similar spec and coming on Friday. I am also currently in a 320d touring so it will be interesting to see how our views compare. I have had a 10 month wait though, only 3 sleeps now!

Good to see your happy Steve, enjoy.

Glad you're enjoying it! Each of theses posts just makes me want mine that little bit more!

Out of interest, why did you leave your company car scheme!? I only ask as I've just joined mine (just ordered my VRS) through it, and did it as a way of bringing my tax down...

lozza,

Reason for leaving car scheme was the ever shorter list of cars. All had to be standard spec and if options required then pay for then ourselves !

Steve

That makes perfect sense. Does sound a bit rubbish!

Enjoy your new car....I can't wait to get mine. January seems a long way off, suddenly!
