Need help with my washer system

Featured Replies

Hi all, I had the trim off my boot today and noticed that my rear washer system has been cut and the connector to link it to the rear wiper is no longer there, I was just wondering is there any way I can attach a new tube to the old one to hook the system back up?

Thanks

So have they cut the water pipe or electrical wires?

The pipe, the electrics are fine

I had same issues on mine, do you still have the little pipe connector sticking out of the back of the wiper motor or has that gone? I got the piece when I bought a new wiper motor but im sure you could buy the part separate or get it off a scrapper. Connection wise I found some smaller diameter silicone pipe dunked it in a cup of boiling water then wedged it over the pipe connector and the hard water pipe, just to make sure I cable tied it at each end and put some silicone over where they meet

I used Halfords  5mm vacuum tube, it's the perfect size for joining the pipe and nozzle. It comes in a blister pack and is on the shelf at Halfords where all the overpriced electrical terminals and fuses are :giggle:

I also joined my bulkhead connection with it. You get 1 metre in the pack for £5.59

Silly question but how quickly do you go through a washer tank full? On average how many times a month do you fill up?

actually not that much, i have only filled the bottle once since i got the car

Possibly preaching to the converted, BUT- NEVER use neat WATER, Skoda recommend a a 50/50 mix.

On a wintery day, with salty spray, I'd get 100 miles from the tiny little washer bottle on my Vrs.  It was my biggest dislike of the car.

Is it salty spray or greasy road muck thrown up, which most windscreen washes won't cope with. I use a cheap windscreen wash with a dollop of the cheapest washing up liquid added( Asda cheapest is favourite as it doesn't foam),but does  attack the road muck and grease. Every so often I degrease the screen with either (dads favourite) vinegar and newspaper ora dolop of cheap washing up liquid followed by plenty of water.

You should use a mix that will prevent freezing - this then stops the joints popping, especially the bulkhead one
