DSG Problem, car didn't start rolling after brake release

Featured Replies

Had a problem with my one year old Octavia 180 DSG 4x4 (25000 km) this weekend. After an hour ride I stopped for a burger, and when starting the car again and releasing the brake, it didn't start rolling as it's supposed to, Instead I had to put my foot on the gas, making the car jump forward and then start rolling. Thinking not much more about it I drove for another hour, until I got stuck in a traffic jam. There the same behavior repeated itself over and over again. It didn't matter if I stopped the car completely, or released the brake before, it didn't accelerate until I touched the gas, and when I did, it jumped forward.

The day after the car was back to normal. Swung by the dealer today to check for failure codes, but there were none. Anyone had, or heard of, any similar problem?

Sounds like an overactive hill hold assist to me...

Or calipers sticking

I don't own a DSG but I am wondering if this behaviour is when the gearbox is getting too hot so it doesn't slip/creep under normal conditions to reduce the temperature?

Ocasionally my dsg does not start rolling immediatelly, it takes a few seconds, not sure what this is about.

This is maybe Hill Hold Assist being active as WiggosSideburns mentioned.

Our Focus did something similar when we first got it, it is PowerShift which is a poor copy of the DSG.  It needed a filter and fluid change and everything is now fine BUT I could feel it slipping as well so may not actually be this.

Possibly although its on flat ground so I assume hill hold should not be active.

If the road is level it should not be active, so maybe a similar problem to AshtrayY

But its only for a second ot two, no big deal.
