Wheel nut cover remover

Featured Replies

Haven't had a proper look, but I believe my Fabia has black wheel nut covers on. Looking on ebay for the tool to remove them, are they pretty much universal or is there a specific one I'm looking for.

Had a look round the car and it doesn't seem to be included unfortunately.

EDIT.

Is it just the Tweezers you need to take the Plastic Caps off?

?

Do you have the Tool to remove the Locking Wheel Nuts?

Forget this nonsense i wrote if you just need Tweezers.

If a locking wheel nut socket, you are going to have to go to a dealership,  unless someone can point you in some supplier,

go to a Dealership.

Is this a Used Car, not New?

Did where ever you buy it do a Service before supplying the car, or have new tyres been put on before you got the car?

Is there a Wheel Spanner there for the other Wheel Bolts, and a Plastic Tweezer to remove the Wheel Nut Covers?

The Socket is not left on the Wheel Brace if there is one there is it.

(Sorry i have no idea what comes in cars without spare wheels.

but the Locking Nut Socket is obviously crucial.)  But getting the Nuts off is easy, the Plastic Covers are a PITA without Tweezers.

Its a used car, yes. I have the locking wheel nut key but I need the 'tweezer' as you say to remove the plastic covers.

There was very little in the car to be honest,, which helped me knock the price down a bit.

Yep our monte is the same the clip that comes with it to remove the caps does not work the proper tool is tweezer like but I've just used long nosed pliers but watch the alloy

Surely can only cost pennies at a Skoda dealership? Agree that annoying to remove without.

My Yeti came without but dealer promptly supplied F.o.C

They are dirt cheap from the dealers

Look in the tool carrier where the jack is. Its black and usually pushed into one of the cutouts in the foam.

As already mentioned make sure you properly check the insert that sits inside the spare wheel. The tweezers are stored on a position that has them pushed down vertically into a small hole, they are very easy to miss.

I got the one pictured above for Audi as its the same… Then found I already had one tucked in boot among the tyre inflator bits n bobs. Have a proper look as it way well be there! If not, they are so cheap, its worth getting one or two. I also think they may grip the sidelight bulb holders to help change the bulbs upfront as these are quite tricky to pull.

When a Fabia comes without a Spare Wheel as Standard or ordered as an Option, how do the tools / jack come packed ?

Fairly confident the tool isn't there, but i'll triple check. Couple of quid from ebay though, can't go wrong!

In the spare wheel compartment, there is a foam insert with cut outs for the various bits and bobs. Mine has the tire seal stuff, locking wheel nut key and an inflater. Not too sure what else was supposed to be there but there is a lot of space left.

It might have fallen into the spare tyre well. Pull everything out and look, also give the foam tool carrier a shake...

Definitely 100% not there. Had the boot linder completely out, including the foam insert and give it a good shake. Not there.

On a similar topic, does anyone know a decent place to get a 'full size' spare wheel? Looking at a 16" steel wheel, doubt a space saver would fit over the brakes?

The Spare wheel for the vRS which fits is 15" and fits fine and comes with a tyre that near matches the total diameter of the 205 / 40 R 17

Obviously if you fit it you have to slow down if you need to fit it as a Temp Measure.

You have 17 " Rims and Tyres, so you might as well Get a 17" Spare and Tyre,

it fits in.

I carry 2 Spares when i am away, because i have directional Tyres on the car.

It saves needing to go get a repair or new tyre fitted.

PS

Best try taking your wheels off near the comfort of home.

They might never have been off yet and can be virtually welded to the rear drums.

That is not just you, it applies to anyone that does not know when the wheels were off,

and if some Copper Slip or Barrier Grease was put on between the Faces of the Wheels and Hub centres or Drums.

If you find you cant remove the wheels because of corrosion between wheel and hub, then an easy tip is to put the bolts back in, but leave them one or two turns loose. Then lower the car, remove the jack. Rock the car side to side by hand, or push it forward/backward just a touch. This will seperate the wheel from the hub. Jack it back up and continue.....

Good advice,

but that does not always work too well sometimes on the Rears with Discs,

and easier as i suggest to try at a comfortable time to suit rather than at a verge side in the rain.
