please, please, please can someone help me, I have a Felicia pick up 1.9d 1999 and I have been trying for a while to find the location of the ecu is there anyone on here can help, where ever I look on the net asking around I have not had any joy at all it seems to be a trade secret.

Here is hoping,  Clive

I don't think they have one I know its immobiliser is done on the pump if it does have ecu then its in engine bay on all felicias

The box on the passenger side in the engine bay contains what appears to be a large relay - that's the diesel control unit.

Thank you for your replies the problem I have is that I have just changed the engine and I can not get any fuel to the pump we connected up a diagnostic computer and it came up that there was not enough signal from the immobiliser or something like that,  so after trying to find the immobiliser we found the ignition key taped to a ring and that was connected to a black box which I think is the immobilser so my mechanic friend that was helping me said to find the ecu and send it all off to get  the ecu decoded so that it would work with no immobiliser and that is why I am trying to find the immobilser.

Have you still got the old pump.. or if you get vac com you can adapt to immobiliser to the new pump

Hi clive its clive LOL the ring you have found should sit round the ignition barrel on the steering column so it picks up the chip in the key I guess  your car has had a new ignition at some time

so sticking the old key to the loop will let the car start (will the key you found fit the doors or ignition if not that's why) there is not a ecu as the injector pump is a mechanical  one. the fuel pump in the tank is 12 volt the black box you found under the dash is the immobiliser .

can you try putting a 12 volt feed to the fuel pump in the tank its under the round cover in the truck bed to see if its working if so undo the bleed screw on the  injector pump to see if fuel is getting there if not, I know its a very easy thing to get wrong check the flow and return fuel feeds are the right way round .if you do have fuel loosen the nut on one of the injectors turn the engine over to see if fuel is getting there  Clive

ps check when you turn the ingition on the fuel stop solenoid on the injection pump works to allow fuel to flow

please ignore my info above (the fuel pump in the tank is 12v  .can you try putting a 12 volt feed to the fuel pump in the tank its under the round cover in the truck bed to see if its working) this for petrol engines sorry. the fuel pump is built in to the injector pump on the engine. also check all the fuel lines  are good and not allowing air to be drawn  in

Thanks everyone for all your ideas and comments, this has been a real bugbear for me the last couple of weeks I tried everything from changing the pump, setting the timing many times I have rewired the pump solenoad to by pass the immobiliser, so in the end I took it to my local garage Warrens Hill Car and Commercial in Cheddar and after 1 day trying all that I have tried they finally found the problem it was the cat that had collapsed and was causing a back pressure and know she is running like a good one I am so pleased with outcome, so thanks again everyone with all your advise
