Enabling Rear Fog Lights for Continental Driving

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Skoda Octavia VRS MKIII and exported it to Germany.  Having looked at the forum I found the front lights could be flattened by the Infotainment unit but the rear Fogs did not change sides.  andyvee has posted instruction on how to enable both rear fog lights and with this information I went to my local Skoda garage.  They said they could not outright use the settings as they were not approved but did set about trying to work out what settings to change to allow driving both on the continent and in UK and changing through the Infotainment unit.

Long story short after 2 hours they managed to set the car up so the headlight beam is correct for both left and right side driving (not just flattened for the continent) and the rear fog light changes side to remain on the off side.  All good but did cost a few hours labour which was not ideal.

Out of pocket for this I have been in contact with Skoda UK who are not willing to contribute to the costs as the changes are not approved.  I have been informed that the technical team have the settings now and are looking to see if they can be approved in which case I will hopefully be partially reimbursed.

The only downside I can see with the setting is the cornering lights do not work in continental mode but work fine in UK mode.  It is also worth noting that my car was built May 2014 but had the issue with the nearside brightness set to 0.  So I'm not sure exactly when the cars became MY2015.

Anyway, if you are going to do this in the future worth calling Skoda to see if the fix has been approved and then it is a 10 min job.  Thanks again for the help with the initial settings.

Interesting about the headlight beam changing and are you also saying that your rear fog lights now change side if you change the side of the road in the Infotainment?

Yeap, rear fogs change sides. Platinum Skoda in Bath worked it out but not sure if they would share the settings. Hopefully will become an official "fix".
