front brake discs

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have a 2006 petrol vrs

My front brake discs and pads are due for a change.

I know there are plenty of threads on this but most seem to be from 2013.

Whats the current thought on the best front discs and pads to fit as I know most companies update their products.

Thanks

I thought the Pagid parts worked well and were much cheaper than OEM. I doubt much changes for most of the manufacturers. Racing /sporty pads might change a bit but it's likely to be minimal.

Fitted ATP on rears from germany really good quality, have a coating on them which you have to do about 35 miles to clear off them. Come with pads no surface rust when it rains really pleased with them. [ ATP Spare Parts ]

As Aspman  pagid are good quality and price had them on my mk1 vrs .

312mm Padgid discs and redstuff ebc pads on mine. Good fast road setup. Not dear either. Google for discount code on brakes4u.co.uk

Had nothing but trouble with red stuff pads coming away from plate ebc customer service is rubbish also.

Personally i would go from APEC over pagid as they use to be good but now i find very them cheap quality since been taken over by a Chinese company

I had Pagid discs and pads but to be honest I have gone back to OEM discs and pads. Slightly more expensive but fit them together and the car just feels better, no judder or pull ever and great stopping power. £170 for piece of mind and I fitted them myself.

That's strange, ebc have always been very good IMHO.

Mine have only been on since beginning of may. No problems at all.

Ran pagid discs and ebc ultimax pads on a puma, they are ace as well.

Always got good discount and rapid service from ebc across a range of cars and motorcycles.

I fitted Pagid discs & pads to my octavia, did the fronts last year & did the rears last month, very good quality & had no problems at all with them.

OEM all the way. I got front pads and discs for £130 from tps

ATE ceramic pads with whatever flavour of ATE discs take your fancy.  Say goodbye to brake dust

Just to throw something else into the mix... I've got MTEC dimpled and grooved discs on all round with Mintex pads. Feel really sharp and look nice too.

Fronts are easy to fit too!

Out of interest, why did you refuse the replacement? I would have thought that supplying a replacement set would have been fair. Had the replacements failed again I would have then demanded a refund.

I would use Pagid as well, and they would cost about £80 all in (front discs and pads) from ECP at the moment.

I was quoting the prices for my base model, so the others will be a bit more pricey. Not bad though for a pretty simple DIY job.

I bounce between the two. That saveme75 code helps - 7.5% off!

Sometimes there isn't much in it, but now and again a fair bit can be saved if you do your homework.

Its odd that ecp and carparts4less use different price points and discount offers - when you consider they are the same company!

Got a set of brand new front pagid disc and pads and a rear set of pads for vrs. £100

I upgraded to 312mm discs.

I used parts from a new Sirocco which had 106 miles on the clock. Both discs and pads were marked Pagid. Presumably Pagid are an OEM supplier to Volkswagen Group.

They have certainly worked well over the last three years or so.

Buying OEM parts or Pagid parts will likely get you the same thing.
