Got home tonight, took ignition key out and radio did not switch off. Press lock on remote to lock doors and nothing. Doors lock ok with key or button on center console, electric windows work ok then did a scan with vagcom

Check for water ingress is the first thing, if water has got on the wiring of the controller then it causes all kinds of issues. Locate the controller and check for dampness, perhaps even disconnect, check the connectors for dampness (any green gunge) and if non reconnect.

 

The controller must be functioning otherwise your windows and central locking would not work at all, these are all controlled directly from the controller.

 

The only symptom present at the moment is that its lost comunication on the canbus, without that the car is not going to lock on the remote because its not getting the signal from the key to say "lock please"

Finally got round to checking controller connectors, all seem fine no sign of water/damp anywhere. Found another problem. If the headlights are on and I turn ignition off they change to sidelights as normal but when I take the key out of ignition sidelights remain on usually all would go off. Could it be the ignition switch

The fault displayed is probably just the fuse. It is common for the headlight washers to freeze to the bumper and blow the fuse. Probably not the cause of your other faults.
