BUYING ADVICE NEEDED. 2.0 TFSI VRS

Mines an 06 on 63k miles, so similar to the one you're looking at, and it's used 2 litres in the last 8k A-road miles.

I don't do many urban miles so can't really comment on how consumption differs.

I've found it does tend to use more oil when it's getting close to service time though!

Mine does 35-39 on the motorway at 70mph true speed. Check cam belt and water pump change as others say or ask for rebate to cover replacement. Check if G60 Teves ABS sensor may has already failed and been replaced along with ABS wheel hub, they fail and cause ABS warnings. Cruise control switch needs an occasional clean but that is a DIY 5 min job. Air con must be checked. My compressor has just failed. All in all though it is a great car, carries a ton of stuff in the boot or with the seats down. It has a very smooth engine and quick enough. It will use about 250ml of oil over 500-600 miles. In winter if you regularly drive short distances the oil filler cap collects a cream but it is not a blown head gasket, it is simply condensation.

The cam follower on the high pressure fuel pump has a habit of wearing out, worth checking periodically as if left it can wreck the camshaft if left resulting in a top end overhaul, warning signs are low fuel pressure/fuel pressure regulator fault. though by this time its probably too late.

Worth changing the fuel filter more frequently than recommended, cheap enough and not too difficult, again shows up as a fuel regular fault if blocked.

If its a later ccz engine then the cam chain tensioners are known to fail and the result is a wrecked engine listen out for a rattle on start up and at around 3000 rpm on a light throttle.

Rang up Skoda today for Timing belt prices. They charge £429 including VAT thats with the water pump included and labour. Local indy is charging £280 for everything. Which one should I go for if I do end up buying the car on Saturday?

The skoda main dealer option will come with a 2 year warranty, though if you're planning to get a warranty to cover the car you could put the £150 saving going to the indy towards the cost of that instead. As the owner has a full skoda service history you would have a good argument to bugdet for tne skoda option when doing the deal, should you decide to buy it. Good luck

Where would I be able to get warranty for that price? What sort of stuff do they cover you for? Thanks.
