Problems insuring a Greenline 3 estate

Featured Replies

Just out of interest, have any UK GL3 Estate owners (can't be many) had trouble insuring?

My insurer will cover it but couldn't find the right car. This is despite the same insurer coming up with a quote via an online comparison site with the exact specifications. The excuse I was given was that the online database might be more up to date (?)

They agreed to insure it under a GL2 so I'm covered but I reckon I'm being overcharged (the online quote was cheaper but they wouldn't honour it unless I cancelled, paid the £50 cancellation fee, and started a new policy. Worked out a few quid cheaper to accept their bungled quote. They also said that if I took out the policy via the comparison site and the paper work came through with the wrong details, I'd have to change it and would have the same issue!

Just wanted it sorted so I can pick up the new machine, so I accepted and paid the extra, but has anyone had similar problems with this or any other model, or any suggestions of anything else I could try?

I would be very wary of them trying to insure it as a different model. I had the same bother when I bought my Yeti. I had taken out the free 7 day insurance with Skoda insurance with all details correct, got a quote for full years cover, which was quite competitive, phoned them up only to be told there was no L&K Yeti. They wanted to insure it as another model, but I said no way, here is the garage I am buying froms number, phone them, or phone Skoda UK it is defiantly an L&K I've got. Lo and behold they phoned back with "the database must have just been updated and the L&K was now on it"

Fortunately they believed that it exists and my cover note will be correct. It's more the fact that the risk will be that of a GL2 which for some reason seems more expensive. Both show on Parkers as insurance group 15 though.

I had no problems insuring mine and that was last August just as the facelift models were coming out. The Greenline 2 is a pre face lift model, so be careful. I'm Insured through Aviva

Ignore the above, I was reading the wrong forum
