Fabia vRS, is it as good as it sounds?

Featured Replies

or fast as even? i read somewhere the paper specs are like 0-60 in 9.6secs?

what have people got out of it realistically as standard?

as for mods, what are the common proven mods for good clean power? i take it, manifold, enclosed air filter and full exhaust as one? any others?

what are the stats for a modded vRS?

Plus pics, i wanna see members cars :D where can i check, thanks :)

Hi Yella fella, been into Bikes all my life, and for 7 grand you can get 150 mph, saw the vrs and had a test drive, only car ive ever driven, that kinda reminded me of a bike

ie brilliant fun, reckon its cracking value, for 12 grand.to me the VRS isnt really about 0 to 60, brilliant mid range Grunt, and pulls like a train, think this thing certainly surprises a lot of other cars out there. now im nearing my 100th birthday, reckon when i pile through that hedge its gonna be less painfull in the Skoda.

Autocar had a standard car on long term test and managed to get mid 8 second 0-60 runs regularly. They also managed, somehow, to get it into the sevens once.

My old ride...

Lots of mods, have a search about for things like,

160 intake

Green filter

Hybrid turbo

Milltek exhaust

Forge FMIC

Welcome to Briskoda

Most people, including me, reckon the std Fabia vRS does 0-60 in between 8 and 8.5 secs. As mentioned above, its the in-gear times that really impress. 40-110 is awesome!

Most popular mods seem to be PD160 intake from a Seat Cupra and a Green panel filter, and a remap. This should see over 170 bhp for

Further mods include FMIC' date=' turbo back exhaust, big hybrid turbos... Should see around 200 - 210bhp. Oh, and bigger injectors are needed to get more than that, nobody on here has done that yet though... :P[/quote']

Don't forget to mention a new uprated clutch and the 312mm brake upgrade to cope with the additional stresses!

Are you sure? :really: :D :D :D:o;)

To answer your question yella fella, go for a test drive :) If you live near some briskodian, they may offer to meet up. I have to other new members on this site, following which they bought one :)

It's a very tempting car though, just from a common sense point of view :)

edit: in case you're wondering, I have someone's "old ride" + a few more tweaks

Yeah, you can't really go wrong. I don't think it's possible to get another car with the same performance AND fuel economy as the Fabia VRS.

It's "real-world" performance is great, it's impeccably mannered on the road, and the it will go for alot of miles on a single tank of diesel.

The statistics in magazines don't really tell you the whole story of how good this car is, take one for a test drive pronto!

Even as standard it is a very usable car - must admit if you get it remapped the brake upgrade or at the very least, better brake pads, will be useful.

I am getting a tad worried about the amount of dosh I've spent on the car though (or am about to spend) as by the time you've done brakes, strut, PD160 intake, sound proofing, exhaust, FMIC, remap & sump protector you are into 4 figures :P

It's a nice car for what it is, but make sure you can live with it being a diesel, it won't rev or drive like a (turbo/non-turbo) petrol and it won't sound the same, but it's still plenty fast up to and up to pretty far beyond the national posted speed limit ;)

I rekon with just a remap and a decent set of tyres, mid 6 seconds to 60 can be achived... its a bugger to do tho as the tyres will light up in 1st and 2nd if your too rough :)

No, buy a PD100 instead!

Seriously though, go to a dealer if no-one is close and take a test drive. Most people like them, but others don't and thats fair enough. Only you can make your mind up. Now, go, go, go to the dealer oh and where do you live as someone may be in the same town as you.

i want to keep mine but have to sell due to buyin a house! boo hoo :orb_sad:

A RICA mapped Fabia will do 6.6 nought to 60 mph and go on to a 15.2 1/4 mile. This is a tad quicker than the standard car.

I can confirm this as I tested an AMD remapped fabia vRS with a PD160 intake which apart from that was standard and I was hitting 6.7 to 60 everytime on a dry to damp road :D

I did have a video of mine but I removed it off the server :( It got the Clio 172 boys talking as it was quicker to 60 than their cars LOL

cheers for the info, im a bit new to the whole diesel thing, bit scared :P considering i currently drive a citroen c2 gt, and they hug corners like anything, handle really good considering it being a very cheap french car :D

what's the 160 intake and Forge FMIC? what they for and look like? green filter, that open air induction kit or panel filter?

As for Milltek exhaust, any other makes? how loud can exhausts go?

Can you get a sports manifold for the vRS or dont they do em for TDI? How much for rica remap, their the best smoothest remap?

Oh another thing, im a bit of an ICE freak :P whats it like for a decent comp and sub setup? whats the comp sizes, and easy to fit 0awg wiring? Thanks in advance guys :)
