anyone answer me other Q's? thanks again

Can you get a sports manifold for the vRS or dont they do em for TDI?

The exhaust manifold is part of the turbo.

Allard do do inlet mainifolds iirc but pricey.

Generally speaking there isnt that much difference anyway, unlike on a petrol, for the manifold side of things.

Better off doing the usual junk first, then if you still have cash to burn, go for it :D

If you have a C2 loaded up with 15 tonnes of speakers and enough amps to power a small town, then you will find the Fabia quite fast mate. A remap, some springs and some better brakes, and you will leave your Citroen buddies in a puff of smoke (and bass). Oh, and your trim wont fall off with the vibrations either, and you wont spend most of your time using Green Flag courtesy cars while they rebuild your car...again......and again....and again. And unlike Citroen, who have a Disservice Dept, Skoda have a Service Dept. Your parts will rarely be on "back order" too. All in all, ownership of a Fabia Vrs, or any Skoda for that matter, will be a wholly more pleasurable experience.

Go drive one mate. It's the only way you will know our little secret. ;)

A bitter and twisted Ex-owner of many past and present Citroens, the newer being even more unreliable and badly made than the older, imho. :D

Wise words there Shifty.

How much for rica remap, their the best smoothest remap?

The RICA remap is

cheers for the info' date=' im a bit new to the whole diesel thing, bit scared :P considering i currently drive a citroen c2 gt, and they hug corners like anything, handle really good considering it being a very cheap french car :D

what's the 160 intake and Forge FMIC? what they for and look like? green filter, that open air induction kit or panel filter?

As for Milltek exhaust, any other makes? how loud can exhausts go?

hey yella fella, and welcome! I can seriously help you here, as my last car was a C2 GT! (number 00436) I now own the vRS, and haven't looked back, only mods I've dune are the cupra 160 intake, and pipercross filter, let me give you a comparison of the two cars from my point of view!

1: the vRS is very noticably faster than the GT (I test drove the VTS too, and the fabia is quicker than that too!) I agree with the people here posting that it will hit 60 in the low 8 seconds. but I also agree with them that its higher up that the extra torque makes such a difference, comming out of the GT, I noticed it most above 60mph or so, the GT would struggle to accelerate fast after that , but the fabia still flies, pulling like a train well into three figures (on private roads of course..) this makes overtaking much easier in the vRS!

2: the handling in the GT is better than the fabia, no doubt about it. its pin sharp , and solid in the GT, but the fabia is soft in comparison. However, if you were trying to keep up with one on the twisties, you would still probably loose! the fabia rolls, and understeers, but it still has high levels of grip, and all that extra speed :)

3: build quality! my GT needed a gearbox at 40,000 miles! (I'd deffo sell your's before you get to that mielage!) and bits were falling off it all the time, and breaking! (had the horn done under warranty, shocks done under warrenty, power streering done under warrenty ect ect!) had the fabia for 15,000 miles now, and absolutely NO FAULTS at all!!!! feels so much more solid in every way! (apart from the wallowy handling, but you can sort that out with some springs and dampers! I wont be doing this with mine, as I like the comfy ride!)

4: there is nothing better than surprising things like BMW 330's on the motorway with the acceleration of the vRS! the GT was slow to accelerate above 100 mph! (on prive roads of course) the vRS is not!

need to change the driving style though, you rev the engine as much a poss in the GT, in the vRS keep it between 2000 and 400o revs for best results in my opinion, aim to be one gear higher in the vRS than the GT in the same situations...

5: there's far more room in the fabia, you can get your mates in the back! (can't do that in the GT! lol..)

I haven't looked back! wont ever go back to the small fast hatch again! sooty power (and I'm looking for a re-map soon!) every time :) *sigh, one satisfied customer! ..* sharky goes and applies for a job at Skoda markiting......

Sharkrider,

Enjoyed reading your message. I was split between the VRS and a C2 VTS but the Citroen dealer could not arrange a test drive no matter how much I pestered them! In the end I gave up and ordered the VRS which I hope to get end Oct. From reading your comments looks like I made the right decision. Our other car, a Citroen C8, has gone into the garage today for several things to be put right!

Cheers.

I can vouch for that, I blew a VTS away on a motorway (doing over 100 leptons ;)) when I had the vRS, and the look on their face was rather amusing :D

Agreed - my Golf GTI is a much better handler than the Fabia, but I suspect the Fabia will still whoop my butt on the twisties, as it was an AWESOME point to point machine IMO :)

For around 150ish + labour the poor handling is really a thing of the past, mine feel's as if its on rails from the old ride :)

sharkrider, cheers for that youth, excellent read and comparison. A few points of my own...

i love my ICE and due to the nature of how small the c2 boot is, my sounds are nice, good SQ :). To be fair, the only minor problem i have with mine is that i had very slight squeaky brakes but had the mod for that so its ok now, plus occasional central locking failure.

For the handling, i reckon its well great, dead nippy and that, but accel wise its pants i think, jerky cos of the muliplex and butterfly throttle. I do love it to bits as i spent ages on my car audio on it and the fact its my first fast ish hot hatch.

I'm holding out first till i get a better job before i do change cars like, but the skoda garage is 2 mins round the corner from me lol, newly opened next to i think its the mazda garage.

When u compared the vRS to the GT, is urs standard, or did u mod the vRS? surely u can uprate the suspension on the vRS for better handling?

need to check what ppl have on theirs so far, and whats the handling like? what about alloys, 17's or 16's? what suits the car as im still having trouble finding pics of ppl's vRS' for some reason lol

Where abouts are you Ed?

Take one for a test drive and you will be hooked. I was going to buy a new Audi A3 sportback but after i test drove the Fabia vRS there was only one winner !, not only is it more fun than an A3 but it drives alot better.

Fabia vRS, is it as good as it sounds?

Three Words:

"Not As Standard"

Sorry to say that... It's a lovelly car, but it does have a number of shortcomings, that can be excused if you factor the price of the car, but they do, none the less, detract from it's appeal as a focused driver's car.

Power - 130bhp is not enough for a nippy hatchback any more, especially one weighing in at over 1300kg!

Brakes - Not enough feel and don't stop this heavy car well enough.

Suspension - VAG need to visit the Peugeot/Citroen camp to learn something about making hot hatches handle well.... I've never driven one, but I've followed enough french metal round the twisties to know that they trounce a standard VAG car in terms of handling.

That, my friends, is all.

If you want a hot hatch - then Josh has hit the nail on the head!

(isn't it about time you had your name changed bud?)

If however, you want a fairly nippy, decent handling, economical sporty little hatch, then you can't beat it!

I know a lot of members on this site have modified thier Fabia vRS's to suit thier own requirements but you have to remember that the Fabia vRS was made to appeal to the masses and as a package, it's near unbeatable!

Cheap to run and fairly nippy with comfort to boot! 0-60 in around 8.5s, around 50 mpg, group 9 ins etc.....

Yes, it's not the hottest hatch around but then again, some appeal would be lost in the package i.e. higher insurance, stiffer ride and more importantly I'm sure that the purchase cost would rise to around

ahhh, shall i be tempted for a test drive then :P

how much are vRS' going for brand new, and how much should i expect to pay 2nd hand?

If you're not already convinced, just had the garage on the phone after servicing mine (independent VW specialist, not stealership)

"Your car's ready to pick up," the guy says, "Cracking little car it is too!"

Methinks he may have taken a shifty test-drive! :D

Nice to know it gets the seal of approval from a 'pro'!

Afternoon (first post). I'm going to test drive a vRS soon at my local dealer Brookalnds Rugby. I wasn't initially sold on the type but from what I read, it sounds like a good compromise all round. Added to that an ODB remap can add all that power

Question for you then Walkie. What for
