Right try again, where does one get a maxidot that shows this info on the display?? I want one :-)

 

Thats a third party product which interfaces with canbus to display that info. Kufatec germany sell the product but it looks like it does not work with the Skoda Maxidot.

So a bit of messing around required then to get in an Octavia 2 pre-fl then! I did wonder as the display is VW/Audi orange rather than the better looking blue and white of Skoda :-)

I think the 'red' maxidot is the VW equivalent of the pre face-lift octavia maxidot so if it works in a golf it should work in the Octavia as they use the same canbus gateways.

Will be looking further into this as I like this sort of thing, sad I know but looks great!

Two things going on here.

 

First if you haven't already you need the Maxidot instrument cluster:

 

 

You need one from a pre-FL (as FL one not compatible). Looks like you have a PD diesel so need to be from a PD diesel car too.

 

You can buy second hand and have it coded in and mileage corrected. A member on here by the name of Eddie-NL can do them in his sleep.

 

The second is the info being displayed. This is by means of a Polar Fis+. It connected between the CAN gateway and car. I have one:

Would love that set up in mine looks sweet!!

I like it.

 

I can tweak some settings too without getting the laptop out light rain/light sensor sensitivity, DRL brightness etc.

 

It will also dip the passenger mirror when you engage reverse even without electric memory seats.

 

I'll give you a demo when you come for your VCDS tweaks

I just bought Polar FIS Advanced and it doesn't work. Octavia II (2006) BMM engine 103kW. Wiring checked twice (not much to screw up).

 

No manuals (used installing manual from Polar FIS+ )

No reply on Polar Auto forum

No error codes in diagnostic

 

I wonder if there is missing some module. I read something about incompatible steering wheel cluster on Golf forum...could it be?

 

I just need oil temp (factory setup doesn't display oil...service intervals)
