I have a small video clip which i would like as my avatar, can anybody tell me how to do this or perhaps even do it for me, as I am a techno****tard.

I believe you need to turn it into an animated gif which is basically a sequence of gif pictures that it cycles through..... Don't know any tools to do it off hand, but Google may show up something........

Yes, needs to be a .gif but also has to be under 100k, which is why the ones you see only have a couple of frames.

Microsoft do a free GIF animator, and it can be used to take a number of satill pictures saved as GIF's into an animation. You can even specify how long easch image stays on etc.

The moving avatars are basically the modern computer equivlent of a flick book!

www.animagic.com or the Microsoft GIF animator, will both work. You need to make the images pretty small to get much animation in, as Neo said.
