Low alternator voltage output.

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hoping someone can suggest a solution.  Got a 2001 Fabia I 1.9 Tdi and getting / having problems. Power steering goes down, then abs and other warning lights ,then limp mode.  After that fails to turn over / start.  Battery was a bit low but has a green LED on it indicating it's good, but alternator was giving only 10.7V output, so not charging the battery, likely alternator faulty, so replaced it.  However still getting the same problems and the same output, 10.7V from the alternator.

The question is, what else could it be?  Could a defective battery, not supplying enough energiser power to the alternator give that sort of problem?  Or could it be the DFM wiring, since it supplys the energiser power or the lack of signal from ECU telling the alternator to start?

Load signal wire, search for it, it's very common.
