Momentary loss of power on steep downhill roads

Recommended Posts

I have a 2014 vRS Diesel.

I have noticed that nearly every time I go over a certain hump backed bridge the engine seems to loose power for a split second on the downhill section.

Anyone else had this issue?

:notme:  No...

The bridge in question is narrow and is on a RH bend. Tend to take it slowly in 3rd. As you descend down the other side the engine seems to just die for a split second and then picks up

Was common on the MKII CR engines as well.

It is a safety feature apparently.

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

I got it all the time on my mkii.  Never had it once on the mkiii, even on the same roads (and glad at that because it did my head in!)

A safety feature designed for a bridge, on a rh bend, taking it slowly in 3rd gear.

Wow, I love my car.

Or maybe the car was travelling faster than the gearbox and you've had a bit of lag, a stumble if you will....

My Superb 170CR does something similar and my Audi A4 3.0 TDI did it on certain roads near me. Usually when half warm and after a few hundred yards on overrun- not responding as quickly as usual to throttle inputs, clears itself after a short time. I assumed it was an emissions control thing
