MPH/KPH & Phonebook Queries

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I took delivery of a new Superb Elegance 2.0 last week. So far I am happy but I have 2 questions that I hope someone can assist me with:

1. The real time speed readout on the maxi-dot (i.e the small digit readout in the phone screen, NOT the one on the trip computer) shows in KPH. I have altered the settings to be decimal UK MPH which has corrected all of the readings excluding the small maxi-dot one. I previously has a Volvo V60 R-Design which had the MPH read out and it was useful for setting/adjusting the cruise control to an exact screen.

Anyone know how to change this if it is possible?

2. When uploading via Bluetooth the phone book from my iPhone 4S, it doesn't upload the entire phone book, but comes up with a message which says "Phonebook Upload Incomplete" (or words to that effect).

Does anyone know how I can upload my entire phone book? Is there a limit as to the size of the phone book the cars memory will take?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Ollie

1 can be changed with VCDS. I assume the speedo doesn't have kph, therefore its displayed on the maxidot to comply with the law.

You can change it to Australian with VCDS then you have the option of a big mph readout.

You can alter the section where the mileage is shown to digital cruise control speed, and whether it is set to on or off. I got my dealer to alter mine for me so not exactly sure what the setting was but I'm sure someone on here will know. This also means the cruise stalk can be adjusted up or down in 1mph increments. I have a 2013 FL diesel.

It may be the same as this thread suggests, but don't proceed without confirmation http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/167070-vcds-and-yeti-5l/

Thanks both.

What is VCDS?

Also the speed of the Cruise Control in the maxi-dot looks ideal, but it's still in KPH in the picture in that link.

Any ideas on phone book query?

Thanks,

Ollie

VCDS is a cable and software which work like the dealer tool.

It's a company car so not to fussed if I have to take it to the dealer to get it sorted. So you're saying if I take it to the dealer they can plug it in and address the MPH/KPH issue on the maxi-dot x

Nope, dealer will tell you it's impossible or will cause the sky to fall on your head and your car will explode in a huge ball of flame.

Find someone in here near you with VCDS to do it. There is a list and map of people with VCDS in the VCDS/diagnostics forum.

The digital cruise speed is shown in mph in place of the cruise symbol, so you get mph cruise set speed beside the kph readout. The picture shows the cruise control is switched on but not set to a chosen speed. if the cruise is turned off completely it reverts back to mileage. It also shows mileage when the car is stationary. It will display the last stored speed in smaller mph readout, and larger mph readout when it's active, so you get everything, both digital mph and kph at the same time beside one another.

Mine is also a company car, I talked nicely to the dealer when it went in for a service, they do know how to do it, whether they will or not is a different matter.

Thanks guys. That sounds ideal. However it also sounds like a lot of hassle to address. I was hoping there was a setting I had missed. Seems silly not to have it in MPH in the first place. Never mind....

Any help in phone book issue would be greatly received....

In the UK we do not get MPH because it would invalidate the type approval for the car in the UK. We use MPH, thus the main speedo shows MPH. The EU have dictated that our cars must show both MPH and KMH, as the main speedometer only shows MPH the maxidot therefore has to show the speed in KMH. Previously we had both MPH and KMH on the main speedo, but it made the main speedo cluttered.

If you look here Gizmo68 has compiled a useful map listing other forum members who are willing to help others with VCDS, someone close to you may be willing to help out with the cruise display for a small fee/favour etc. Take a look here and click on the map where mentioned http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/224376-vcds-owners-map/

Sorry I can't help with the phone issue, I have a Blackberry and all contacts are loaded without a problem

I think there is a contact limit but its quite high, I recall reading maybe 250 or 400, depending on module. So you are either very popular, or perhaps try unpairing and re-pairing...
