Chernobyl Photos

I have to admit that I added a D700 to my D300 as I missed my wide angles!

No that one was during a shoot for the local RSPCA branch a few years ago. Ours are a black lop and a huge French lop.

  • Yep, think both those questions have already been answered lol. I took 5 different raw exposures for each shot, combined them manually and they were editing in two different programs. I like to have f

  • Ok, here you go..... just because I was amazed that I was able to rescue this shot! It was a rushed job as I was holding everyone up, it was pitch black, lit by a borrowed torch!   The important poi

  • Very interesting place to visit! Much better than your average beach holiday! I'm completely fascinated by this place. How do you go about planning a visit to Chernobyl? Have you seen the film Che

Super cute :) Lost my continental giant last year :(

Sorry..

How old was he/she?

He was just over 5 and a half.... Apparently Giants average lifespan is 4 years, so he did alright!

Totally off topic now haha! Never mind :)

How can rabbits ever be unwelcome in a thread [emoji6] ?

I'm going back in October...If there's any interested parties here drop me a PM and I'll pass on the tour details :-)

Very nice post here, want to go see this myself sometime, read up quite a bit on the events leading up to the disaster mustve been in awe the whole way round!

It's one of those things, you don't really notice where you are until you come away and have time to process it and check through the photos! It's not really shocking or eerie though, Pripyat is a pretty pleasant place by all accounts. The only places I felt uncomfotable were inside reactor 5 (because there was no ventilation and it was pitch black with sheer drops) and in Jupiter factory because it is so, so vast and easy to lose everyone. I would go again. My friends have just done a 4 day trip in the zone. I'll probably go again maybe later this year or perhaps wait til next year.

Amazing thought provoking Photographs thanks for sharing them with us Loz - that must have been a Hoofing Trip, so much to see.

Yes, there's lost to see, but that said, even the guys who go twice a year haven't seen everything! I suppose it never ends!

Next time I might try some video :)

I have been away from these forums for a little while but I read this with interest as I have been a few times. What I found interesting was on how on each visit things had changed a little. The main change was the graffiti - one year it was completely graffiti free then suddenly it arrived. I know the ex-citizens were very upset about it (vandalism).

I am surprised though how many people have been - I think a visit is well worthwhile in fact. When I first went in 2004 it was really hard to get access and I had to get a visa and everything. I just went around with one Ukrainian friend - exploring for a few days. These days the organised tours make it much easier. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Some awesome photos there

I have read through this before, but it was a while ago, so sorry if I missed it, but which company was this organised with? Your tour looks like it included a few parts of the site that others don't. (Although we've only got time for a one day visit, sadly, before moving on to Russia as none of the 2+ day ones tie up with our visit to the Ukraine.)

Fascinating thread and fantastic photos. This place has long since fascinated me and I'd really like to go. We did go to the Ukraine a few years ago but didn't end up going on the tour. Sort of glad now in a way because we got to see Kiev in its beauty before it became a war zone.

Seeing your pictures has just reignited my desire to visit. :) Thanks for sharing!

It's not a company, just a couple of guys who have been doing it for years. They do 3-4 day trips though and you stay in slavutich as its near(ish) and easy to travel to the zone each day on the commuter train. You couldn't really do it for one day on their tours.

Brilliant photos Loz. We were going to go this year but the pesky Russians were bombing the airport so we thought we'd wait until it calms down! Whether that half naked nutjobon a horse decides to leave these countries alone, who knows.

Dp you fancy Oradour-sur-Glane by any chance? Also following you on Flickr now!

Sorry, not been in this thread for ages lol.

I've not heard of that one. Have to have a google of it haha!

I always liked a bit of Urbex, difficult in the UK though. Had a peek at Sleaford Bass Maltings a few months back.
