Felicia Pickup 1.8T Conversion Project at Horton SKODA!

Is the frame you have holding the engine to set it's position in the felicia as it was in the octavia? (or at least where/as close as possible)

  • Big morning thanks to jamie (technician at hortons) engine was out and mounted in place, surprising at how well it fits, it went in the pickup easier than it came out the octavia

  • Next update video coming soon...big weekend coming up, mounting front struts, subframe, power steering rack.

The frame is actually an engine support for superb/octavias when removing gearboxes, it just so happened to fit the felcia pretty well. We then looked where we wanted it and what angle etc the cut mountings etc. Surprisingly easy, hardest part was making a braket to go from the organinal gearbox mountings to the gearbox.we made it 1.5 mm steel but final version will be in 2.5mm or 3mm

Looks a useful ittle frame. It certainly looks like you aren't messing about with the conversion.

This is epic. Would love to do this. If give anything for a workshop! Looking forward to the next update!

What flavour back end are you going to use?

One off the vrs

Have you used the Octavia subframe and front struts?!? Did they bolt straight in at the top mounts?

I'm hoping to do the same conversion but using a diesel engine so this is very helpful!

yes we are using the octavia struts and subframe, the struts are very easy, you just need the top mounting plate (piece that is held in with 2 13mm nuts), take it off the old struts and the top bush of the octavia strut fits perfectly into it, subframe slightly more tricky, we are currently making 4 custom mounts, will post pics later

Mounting plate for subframe almost done

Had a big weekend, saturday and sunda saw the subframe mounts welded in place, requires tracking up but undecided as to whether or not we adjust the camber! Looks pretty awsome!

Is there such thing as too little camber?? :D

How easy is it (is it possible?) to adjust the camber?

anything is possible, the top mount is held in with 2 13mm nuts, the idea is to elongate the holes along with the main central hole, set the car up on our 4 wheel alignment equipment and adjust it to its neccersary position

Front camber, toe and castor all in spec now, pics show how we have moved top of strut outwards, although this is its final resting place it will be strengthened and tidied up next week, subframe mounts now welded in. If you look at the other image of the camber you can see how far it has it has moved, we measured the distance between struts on donor car and on pickup, which turned out to be exactly 70mm, so we moved each strut out by 35mm, and then carried out a 4 wheel alignment on our Beissbarth equipment.

Going to need some interesting bodywork modifications to keep that wheel legally underneath the arch? :)

35mm spacers for the back wheels too then? :D

The rear axle is getting changed for the Octavia one so will be the same as the front, was going to see what aftermarket wide arches were available, if anyone has any ideas would be grateful??!!

What about the felicia kit car arches?

You could flare the arches yourself, I've seen it done on an escort van, but you need 2 sets of wings to do it, you cut off the bottoms of one set, and cut the tops off another, then you roll the lower ones round a large radii, then join them together. You need to make a filler piece which is like an elongated leaf shape too.
