"I particularly like the dials with their bevelled faces, neat numerals and pointy needles, and the mock-aluminium trim accents are more credible than most with their matt, textured finish. The seats with their contrasting silvery panels feel snug and secure, and automatic air-conditioning is standard. Extras include a full-screen colour sat-nav, an electric sunroof and 18in alloy wheels in place of the standard 17in items."

you missed "The new Octavia vRS looks a bit dowdy"

But overall its a great review.

sorry...

"but the vRS is so understated as to be inaudible. But maybe discretion isn't a bad idea. The Octavia's shape wouldn't stand the sort of funking-up that makes a Vauxhall Astra into a VXR, and it would have been ridiculous to try. And it means you can enjoy the secret that is your Skoda's delicious driving characteristics."

Great review.Love the suggested rivals.Impreza and megane 225 :D

Very positive review, looks as though Skoda have worked handling characteristics which I always felt were a little lack-lustre in the Mk1 .

Frumpy ? Dowdy? , hey, Im an old man with kids, I dont need a big spoiler and flared wheel arches to prove myself:D

good review :)

they could have made it more sporty without going as far as making it "in your face" :D

I like understated, which is one of the reasons I bought a Fabia Vrs. Nothing worse than having a dining table on your boot lid and knocking your front bumper off whilst parking etc. Also being understated, it doesnt attract all the local spammed up girls shopping cars to try and prove something to you.

Another good thing is that when you want to, you can leave disbelieving looks in your wake.

Still waiting for the oil burner though....:D

yeah but you can still be understated with a bit more exciting style tho

It's funny a lot of the comments on the other thread as well about the appearance.

Looking at (a rather nice) pic of my current vRS,it has the following

Little boot spoiler, bit of detailing on the front bumper and green calipers and alloys.Thats it. :(

New one has slightly better spoiler, cracking upgradable (to 18")alloys,foglights where foglights should be,far better seats (lovely in fact),leather in the doors, great interior,in fact a million and one better things than the current one!! :D

Look at your current vRS's and you will see all this.

If someone can show a side to side comparison that would be great.

where do i sign !!! i want one anyone want to hire me for a bit so i can get the cash ;)

i agree they have changed the same things as with the MK1 vRS. but the MK2 vRS just doesnt look as mean asthe old one.

the design of the front bumper made the MK1.

i agree what your saying but its what everyone sees so just one of these things. i still like it but the front isnt imposing enough IMHO :)

I think it is a good reviw overall. I will wait until i see a few on the road to decide whether i like it.

Is the Diesel vRS Octavia 2 a goer ?
