Breaking Into A Fabia

Featured Replies

My wife borrowed the Fabia last night (05 vrs) to go out. She swears she locked it and even double checked it, however when she came back a few hours later the interior light was on. There was another car parked at an angle to mine with 4 dodgy looking blokes in it and she said they were very interested in my car. If they were up to no good, is it possible to unlock the car. I thought it was just the keyless cars that were vunerable.

I have no personally experience nicking cars, but it's an old car now with old technology. I'm sure given plenty of time people learn how to overcome car security.

Anything is possible really. If they want it they will get it.

Very true but can they be unlocked without the key by using some sort of signalling device. Looks like the old crook lock from the 90's is coming out.

With the right knowledge and tools, it'll take around 20 seconds to open the door, 40 to disable the immo depending on firmware version and it can be driven away. No fancy wireless devices or laptop needed.

I think some people use blocking device so even though you have pressed lock it doesn't actually lock.

That doesn't matter if she had double checked the lock but it's possible.

If she used the remote key to unlock it the interior light comes on. Perhaps just paranoia?

I thought that but she uses it a lot and its not one to get in a flap and knows how the interior lights work

Mine used to lock then bounce back to unlock again sometimes

my rs clio used to do that.

If it unlocks by itself after you locked it, one of the doors might not be fully closed.

Dodgy microswitch on mine

Signal blockers are fairly common (more so than you would think). And to be honest, it doesn't take too long to get into a fabia 'manually' with the right things from a DIY shop, (I have experience in locking keys in the boot).

So they never actually broke anythin :) they gained entry [emoji57]

Nope, no proof anyone got in. It was just a general question.
